LOL Tiburon GT!
So yeah, in case you guys were following along with my emo-rant in the lounge, I decided I needed a 'guys-night out' so I called up a couple buddies and we went bowling (lol -hey, bowling can be fun) so on the way back through ricer town (Gainesville, GA) we got behind a new Tiburon, and I saw him weaving in and out of traffic before we came to the red light, so I was like, haha, I wonder if this old family car can even keep up... first off, I'm in my old 1984 BMW 533i...180,000m on the clock, and 2 passengers riding with me. I figured it could maybe keep up with the Hyundai if I was by myself, but with 2 passengers?! Please! So after the light turns green, I follow fairly close, and sure enough - the rear end drops and I follow in pursuit. My friends and I are just lolling about how I'm still behind the guy, and I move over into the right lane to toy with him a little. To my surprize he doesn't let off the gas, and I take this opportunity to shift to 3rd. We're moving pretty good now, and I look over, and we are slowly (ever so slowly) creeping up on his door. As we (take in to account, we are on a decently long straight, just before leaving town - no one around us) near 80mph I'm basically side by side with him. Right before it bounces off the rev limiter in 3rd (read 90mph-ish) I slam on the brakes, but at this point, my nose was ahead of his!!! I basically reeled in a new 'sporty' car. Hah, it was hilarious to my friends and I, and we noticed that at the next red light he stared straight ahead. I was about to die laughing. OMG that was funny. So yeah, my old beater has still got it! lol, but what doesnt make since to me is..according to a website with a lot of 'car performance stats' my car (brand new) would do the 1/4 in ...well here they are..
1983 BMW 533i 7.7 15.8 (close to 84...what can the differences be)
2002 Hyundai Tiburon GT V-6 7.1 15.6 (so whats up with that..)
doesnt make since to me, my cars a piece of crap, terrible suspension, 5 speed, OLD, not even running its best...idk. Maybe the dude was shifting worse than I, or whatever, but it made for a few laughs. Good day sir! :rlaugh:
PS: all the following activities were performed by professionals on a closed course. In all seriousness, don't try this. (I made the decision, due to traffic and circumstances, but it was still a stupid decision) LOL @ that..but yeah, dont flame me for 'street racing' it began more or less as a joke, and ended much in the same fashion.
