Kia Spectra 07:

Horsepower (SAE net) 138 bhp @ 6,000 rpm, 132 @ 6,000 rpm (SULEV)*
Torque (SAE net) 136 lb.-ft. @ 4,500 rpm, 133 @ 4,500 rpm (SULEV)

5-speed manual 2,701 - 2,826 lbs.

Mazda RX-7 1988 GXL:

HP: 146
Torque: 138
Weight: 2700

Given your motor is probably worn a bit, I am surprised he didnt beat you!

cyberxn 02-15-07 10:40 AM

JKLDNBvg! I just did a rebuild on it, New apex seals And so on and had a Bridge port done wile it was Apart.

J-Rat 02-15-07 10:41 AM

You have a B-PORT?!

give me your incrementals off the timeslip. I call BS on a 120 MPH pass...

88rxn/a 02-15-07 10:42 AM

i was thinking the same thing!?

cyberxn 02-15-07 10:43 AM

That was a glance damn it.
I wasent Really paying Atenchin.

ENZO182007 02-15-07 11:17 AM

i thought he meant a road course, 120 at the end of a sttraight .. Not 120 at the end of the thirteen twenty'

NCross 02-15-07 11:25 AM

dont worry, it happens to the best of us :dunno:

YaNi 02-15-07 11:54 AM

I thought Rx-7's never lose?

jonesfromindia 02-15-07 12:02 PM

they dont. tell everyone your throttle cable broke and you had john cena push you!

ibekinq 02-15-07 12:11 PM

i heard people swapping out with a 4g63 in those cars. i raced one back in the days in an s5 stock. he held on real tight on my ass. after the race he wanted to stop for gas as i was doing too. then he came up to me and said nice race! than i asked what he had under the hood. so on and so forth....................that could be why.........

rogrx7 02-15-07 12:20 PM

he was probably out shifting u too. IE automatic

gxlbiscuit 02-15-07 12:21 PM

rx-7s are getting older and slower every year......to everything

rogrx7 02-15-07 12:39 PM

considering cars now have as much or more horse power than 250hp

sleepydave 02-15-07 12:45 PM

there is just about NO way you were trapping 120 in an na rex, ANYWHERE on the track even if you didnt brake and hit the wall an na would be hard pressed to trap that.

Richter12x2 02-15-07 12:57 PM

He didn't lose - read better. :D

TweakGames 02-15-07 01:02 PM

My na does 120 ... easily but only 120. I hit 120 in 4th pulling just fine, but then I shift into 5th and I can barely hold it (if not slow down a little ) haha I even called my rx7 friend (NaturalSmooth) cause I Was sure the s4s didnt have a top speed governor. But infact they do... its called 5th gear. sneaky mazda. haha :P

SpooledupRacing 02-15-07 01:04 PM

I have hit 120 in my car on the highway in 4th gear.. not on a 1320 I dont know if my n/a would get up to 120mph thats hauin.. not only that but that would be a quick pass... high 13's if I am not mistaken

no kia should be doing high 13's if he has a bridgeport is it not possible for him to hit 120 in the trap?

lol 5th gear govern.

i got up to 130+ in my s4 na, intake exhaust, so nothing special. 5th gear i was suprised at myself, or more at my car.

Richter12x2 02-15-07 01:13 PM

You can get there, sure - I think the issue is whether you can do it in a quarter mile or better.

exactly thats my point...

turbodrx7 02-15-07 06:47 PM

An NA FC could NOT do 120 in the quarter unless the car is fully worked motor, peripheral ported like nuts, fulled tubbed, gutted, the full stretch. 120 is alot of speed. I dunno why that thing was so fast lol

This picture shows a little stretch that I take pretty often... From the "O" to the "X" it is about 1000'... Slightly less than a 1/4 mile... I start out about 10-20mph coming around the curve and punch it once I am out of the curve... By the time I make it to the "X", I am usually between 100-110 mph... My car is all stock w/ the exception of steel braded fuel line and aftermarket fuel rails, and FPR...

Breaking from a stop is the longest part. :P It probably wouldn't be too hard to do 120 in a quarter from a roll.
