into the 13's !!

It's not confirmed as our drag strip is closed for the season, however my brother in law has a n/a neon (no computer/internals) with 14.2 timeslip. With a passenger in my 7 I grabbed some ground on him through 2nd. Yes, we let off and it wasn't a full quarter mile, but I was a bit behind with lack of traction top of first, so I know I should be quicker than him (especially with traction problems lauching at 2500 rpms). I didn't have a timeslip, so I have to keep the thread out of that section, but I beat a 14.2 neon!

Mods:
We went down and weighed the cars last night also. With some crap little more than 1/2 tank of gas and 1/2 my dash to remove still (the metal part lol), my 86 n/a weighed in at 2400lbs. He was at 2260lbs (thus why he's so quick ;) ). I have a pineapple racing template large streetport, haven't gotten my pineapple racing sixthport inserts (so there's nothing in there to actuate/open and driveability on the road isn't bad at all). Gasket matched intake, throttle body mod with smoothed elbow and ported/smoothed mass airflow sensor. Full racing beat turbo exhaust (n/a header of course). Autox suspension (need to do the rear mount/subframe bushings still though). Only belt is e-shaft, water pump, alternator. Stripped interior, 205R50's on my old vert's rims, and a street/strip clutch. My timing is still way off as I last had to "tune it by ear... lol"

With the rest of the bushings and some wider tires, I know I could be a mid 13 on a stock computer!

Nice numbers man! Not a lot of guys out there with N/A FC's can say that they have made it into the 13s so props to you bro!

Traction problems launching at 2500rpm!!?!!!? Holy shit. That car must run strong as hell, must be cool to have the acceleration of a boosted FC in an NA car!

It's alot of weight reduction.

I had a giant truck run into me several years ago, and I got the body straight enough to bolt a fender from my vert, a fender from a buddy of mine and the hood/nose from my vert (1988), so my car is red with white nose/hood/fender and a gray gxl fender lol. It looks horrible, I broke the cable to open my hood, but the hood doesn't close all the way anyways =p. Oh the headlights are out of the gray gxl... So the car doesn't look very nice with the porting has a slightly loppy idle so anyone looking at it and hearing it run (without knowing what the loppy idle is from) would and does think the car is just a POS.

I would like to eventually get a t2 drivetrain with a lightend flywheel (I can't wait for the lsd :D), megasquirt, 150-200 shot of nitrous, and at least a 275 tire all the way around. Without the nitrous I hope to be in the 12's. As fast as this all is in a straight line, the Nitrous is the only thing I am doing specifically for the drags. I live on the oregon border, and have a bunch of curvy roads and hills. It's not meant for some specific race or some specific class, just a car that I want to drive.

If I can get a hold of a video camera I'll get some incar videos. Of course when the track is opened next season I'll get a timeslip too, however just having the car back on the road I just couldn't wait.

List of kills so far:
h22 prelude (they were laughing at me at a stoplight so I let them have it =p)

14.2 sec 1/4 mile neon
my (pregnant) wife drove the car through a curvy part of highway 101 and a 325i bmw started tailgating her, she entered a couple corners (at the protest of a blinking SLOWDOWN! 35mph!!! sign) at about 60, we didn't see the beamer until we hit a straight section and she slowed back down lol.

An old Dodge Conquest boost creeping to 11-13psi (this guy talked so much crap! "Oh you can't keep up, I have a turbo! I don't think there's anyway you can keep up! I run a 13.0 flat dudzors!!!11!11" beat him by about 5 cars top of third lol)

a fully built civic hatch with a dohc vtec ls swap (Fastest non s2k/nsx/nitrous honda I've ever raced!)

a stripped out lightly moddified 240sx

Most of these didn't stand a chance, however there's not a whole lot to race out here (thus why it's a car that I just want to drive everywhere, not build just for the drag strip.)

I must be tired today... I always ramble on and on when I'm tired/drunk... (ps. no I'm not drunk right now)

Man my car doesnt have troubles launching at 2500rpm and is making 230rwhp if anything it bogs down when i launch it there. Are you running 2 spare wheels on the back?

Jakor 10-27-08 05:25 PM

couple of 205 all weathers... Shoulda seen the car when I first got it with only the precats punched (had to have the main cat/stock airfilter for smog) The person I got it from put so much money into the suspension he couldn't afford decent tires and got some old 185's cheapo's... That was the first autocross I went to in it and spent most of the track time sideways... (miata people drawing up the course and all =p)

Best launches I had were on some 205 racing slicks down at the drags when the just re-paved the track! 5000 rpms launches and only 15' of wheel spin (the awd guys didn't care much for it as their first ended at 30 and I always was ahead at that point!)
