GSXR 750 11k, back road 5$ petrol, look on his face through the turns... priceless!

I was comming out of my abode saturday evening and my neighbors son was visiting on his bike. he pulled out of the driveway around the corner as i was comming out of mine and he didnt know it was me. i let him go ahead and he rev'ed at me as he went by showing off. we got to the main road and he was turning right as i was. left= towards town and right = a twisty long way around town pretty much. lots of s curves and straights and limited lights and traffic.

let me set the scene for you...

a bike takes a right quickly followed by a 94 r2. he takes off and wheelies a little i take off from a stop and light up first, stepping out the rear to get his attention and then bark the 1-2 shift... just to see what it could do for the first time really. i saw him look back like oh shiite muslims!! it was a great takeoff, movie worthy!

we got to the next/first turn(the beginning of the best set of s curves and straights combo you ever want to see!) he downsifts and goes for it. i was anticipating this and was in 3rd at about 45mph. he blasts off and im right on him(2 cars) comming from the stop. i see him relax as he takes the corner and could almost read his mind... "whew, a corner... now i got him!". he sees something weird in the road sign... its my headlights, right behind him! Hes bent over @ 70 on a double s curve and cant get away. We hit the straight and i lose a lot of distance for a couple of seconds and then start gaining agian. The whole time he is looking back shaking his head.

I knew the kid and hes pretty cool but a little cocky and making him unsure and crash back down to earth is a hobby of mine... i dont fail him this time either! the look through the helmet was GREAT at the stoplight after our little run! he was unbelieving of how well i stayed with him. just some funnay i thought id share. it made me lol. i called him later and said..."if that was you on the 750 tonight dont feel bad im not totally stock... i do have a downpipe and cat back! hahahahahaah. bitch!. talk to ya later". he did call back and it was hilarious. he still couldnt beleive that i could follow him through those corners. he said he heard me blipping the throttle behind him in the last set. lol, it was awesome.

i think ill do it agian and video it hahahahaa

^hahaha yes

thats pretty good though, i chased some kawasaki 600r's down the local mountain here on the downhill, pack of probably 20, stayed up front with the 2 leaders, the guy told me when we stopped a few miles after the curves "i saw you coming up quick and decided i had let you catch up enough, but i kept going faster and faster and i couldnt get rid of you, you're a crazy fucker"

i was in my 88 GXL with stock suspension and crappy brakes, lol

A well handling car will keep up or outrun just about any sportbike in the twisties. I roadraced motorcycles in the late 90's. It was proven on a TV show. I don't remember it exactly, or which TV show (something on Speed I think). But from my memory, they had a Yamaha R1, with a retired road racing / columnist riding the bike, and the same in like a Corvette C5.

The bike put a couple lengths on him on the straights. They ran about 5 laps having fun. Then they started from a dead stop on the start finish line and the 1st one back to the line wins. The bike led about 3/4 of the way. Then in like the sharpest turn, the car eased by (slightly drifting) on the OUTSIDE.

The bike might have been a tick faster even on the rest of that lap, but the bike couldn't get past the width of the car. On the last straight, the bike was about to pull along side, but the finish line came up before the bike could work past the car.

It was spectacular, and I would've never guessed that outcome. The point being, the car could push past its handling limit and continue. And the car could drive to 100% of its limits in almost every corner.

The bike rider had to stay at about 99% in the corners or take a big change at winding up on his ear (and maybe getting ran over :D ).

It was awesome ... both guys were pushing WAY hard. The retired bike racer could kick my ass any day of the week.
