Got me a mustang yesterday!

I got a 68 mustang with a brand new 5.0 with a 650 carb. He had a c4( or whatever the old auto trannys were) and practically stock. We've lined up atleast once a week after school and after about two months(and getting used to the car) i finally got him(rebuilding the carb helped). i have an 83 firstgen with a 12a, 4spd, and a stripped interior, strait pipes(and no cooker, did that in shop class that mourning). The other grea thing is I HAD all the car enthusiast laughingh :rlaugh: and other challanges. we will see.

i got some questions,
1. if you have a first gen, why is ur avatar a 3rd?
2. how did u get a 4spd?
3. you had trouble beating a rustang?

If I may, I'd like to answer rxseven07's questions with what I have interpreted:

1. FD's are nice to look at, and for all we know thats how he will make his if he ever gets one.
2.The 4spd dogbox tranny from the '79 is a preferred tranny in later FB's and FC's. Due to its lack of a 5th gear, rotational mass and overall weight is reduced, not to mention 5th gear is just a gas saving gear. Most people with street driven weekend warriors rarely make it into 5th gear at the track, so the obvious thing to do is eliminate it all together.
3. If you know anything about FB's, you know that they are relatively low on power (100hp at the flywheel). Sure, they weigh less than all the other 7's stock for stock, but that doesn't really matter if you have such little power. He also seems to have very few mods, like the weight reduction of interior stripping and exhaust, so he's still relatively low on power. Also, if you know anything about V8's, you know that they are powerful, for the most part. The 5.0 is notorious for not only making power relatively easy with induction upgrades (i.e. 650cfm carb) and they spin high RPM's for a V8. Honestly, I can see why he had trouble beating it and I give him my props for doing so.

Now, I have a few questions for you, and so you know, I'm not being a dick or calling you out rxseven07:

1. What car do you drive?
2. Why such prejudice toward this guy?

Silly people. A 68 Mustang with a 5.0 and big carb is still a potent car in its own right. But also consider its also a near 40 year old car. I actually call B.S. on it, my neighbor has a 67 fast back and that thing will walk my NA easily and probably could run with my TII (with before its current problems ran a low 14 on low boost.

I hope that guy had his arm broken or possibly an ankle since your car really has nothing for modifications.

I got him fare and square. You want to call bs but you get to pick up all the cards. I like the 3rd gens the best but can't afford one. rxseven07 is probly a rich boy who has daddy buy all his crap so he can beat it, if he even has an rx7, and because he wonders how i got a 4spd, he knows nothing of the history of these cars, the 5spd was only on gsl models.

every few days, me and this other kid lined up on about a quarter mile stretch, hes whooped up on me for two months and i finally got him beat. i was probly only lucky or he felt bad or "i dont care" i beat him.

finally, the 67 probly has been restored, nice new shiny parts(hint) and experienced driver.
this is 2 kids who have had their license under two years. he has an automatic that is as old as the car. i have a 4spd but im still lucky. hes pushing 3200 pnds with 230hp(at min) i am pushing about 2200 pnds with 100hp(at most).

i got lucky, i will admit. IT IS STILL A KILL.

I agree completely xero, but rxseven07 has an 84 so yeah he actually has a 7, I'll defend him on that.

Actually all the manual 81 and up cars (FB's) had 5 speeds s, gs, gsl, gsl-se
The only first gens that had 4 speed were some of the SA's (79 & 80)
