Future 05 M3 vs FD

So two my friends have schedules a race. ONe just bought a brand new M3 smg. another one has a Fd with a m2 SMIC, m2 intake, DP and manual boost controller (10 psi of course) Im backing the FD but really im not too sure who is going to win. Ill try to record the race.

M3 SMG facts
MAX POWER 321bhp @ 7400rpm.
MAX TORQUE 258 lb ft @ 3250rpm
1/4 mile - 13.5
0-60 - 4.9

with good driving i think the FD wins a close race...is it from a roll or dig? why doesn't he turn the boost up to 12 psi?

ArmenMAxx 07-26-06 07:42 PM

im sure there gonna do both roll, dig. He dosent want an ECu yet so he cant raise unless he wants a blown motor. Im in the same situation with my car. The only thing thats always in the back my mind is if its safe holding the boost at 10 with no eCu.

BoostedFd3s 07-26-06 09:14 PM

it'll be a close one...hopefully u can record it...go fd!!!

SlingShotRX7 07-27-06 11:31 AM

the FD wins.

E46 M3 isn't the one to worry about.
Hopefully he doesn't blow his rod bearings. haha
RX's aren' t the only ones with issues.

The New E90 with 400hp would be a better race.

2 things to think about.

I have heard that the smg's are slower then the manual's an they also have problems as well. I think a good FD driver could take him.

Force13B 07-27-06 12:19 PM

I've only had a few roll races with M3's no digs with dp stock cat and my getto exhaust i put 2 cars on 1 and 1 car on another. I think the FD should win both races.

I don't know that FD just has a DP and CAI. The M2 IC is not going to help much since he is only boosting 10 lbs and only a few WOT runs.

Only if that FD is healthy lets say 240- 250 RWHP then I give it to the FD.

this is alll asuming its a perfect world and everyone can shift

I bet a 05 M3 from 40 on the highway. Look at sig. for mods.

Rod bearings dont blow, they spin. And all E46 M3s has had the rod bearing bulletin done already. Its true that they did once have problems, but the issue has been fixxed. I've done a few of those bulletins myself, and damn they pay nice.

smg=horrible i used to work at a BMW and MB dealership they suck, but they do have a lunch mode that will get them off the line fast as shyt and they are quick, but if he does not know how to do launch mode or if he gets the tires warm burnout mode << better less boggin but no tractions....=( but yeah if he does not know how to do that fd by far if he does good race film it pls

ArmenMAxx 07-28-06 09:42 AM

in other word, do u guys think a Rx7 wtih IC, DP, and Intake can get a 13.5.

21K95RX7 07-28-06 09:54 AM

yes great driving will get you that stock, i was getting 13.7-13.8's stock (toyo t1s 245's rear) so not stock rubber

21K95RX7 07-28-06 09:59 AM

oh what kinda tires does your buddy have?

ArmenMAxx 07-28-06 11:15 AM

Falken Azenies

Depends on what generation SMG you drove. I think SMG is pretty good, you can blip the throttle, and spin tires when you change gears. Launch control is pretty sweet too, but i think it lets the tires lose traction too much.

What makes you say SMG isnt good?

I think the FD will take the M3

yup

ArmenMAxx 07-29-06 05:04 PM

why isnt the m2 IC gonna help much if hes at stock boost? we felt i good difference after we put it on.

Improved FD 07-29-06 06:25 PM

I recently smoked an M3 and I was only running 10 psi (non sequential BNR stage 2s)

well unless the turbos are being overworked and thus creating a lot of heat, I don't think an larger SMIC will help very much on only a couple WOT runs.

Meaning that the air coming from the turbos isn't very hot, thenthere isn't much too cool. That's what I mean.

BuffDaddy915 07-31-06 01:58 PM

245/45 16 will fit on stock rims fine.

05 M3 have a crazy high redline, I love FD's but I think the M3 wins from a drag and the FD takes the roll

take video of the race
