FD vs RSXtypeS

My Rx7 is BONE stock. The mods on my sig are going on in a couple of days. My cousin has a 06 RSX type S with just CAI. We decided to go on a HWY roll. Started around 50 and both in second gear. 3rd honk we flew, and immediatly he put 1/2 car on me. 3rd he makes it almost a full car length but we shut down. Second time. We start dead even second gear, shifted to second he starts pulling. Seems that he starts pulling past7k rpm for me. :squint:

Ive noticed my car is quicker 1st to second, then 2nd to third. Third gear takes forever, even compared to a rsx-s. RSx is a high end car, so I think this is possible. I am VERY VERY suprised, and I DO drive good so dont say i cant drive. I shift fast when racing and my clutch is holding up well.
I feel disgusted that i just lost to a 4 banger, and have no excuses. :wallbash:

I need some un-biased results here. RSX is a high end car with 45 less HP (not considering the CAI which works well with RSX's) , better gearing transmission for higher speeds. I feel that my car is loosing Power high end. I dotn think i have a boost leak, and ill be gettign my boost gauge in a couple of days, Will let you guys know if i have a leak but seriously doubt it.

Hopefully with DP, HFC, CB, and PFC on base map will change things around though :)

Uhhhhh, I think something must be wrong with your car. I just can't imagine an RSX-S pulling on you, even in stock trim. Can somebody else chime in on this?

+1... check yer car out, because those shouldnt even be in our competition range... but then again, i could be wrong... dont really know anything about rsx's, especailly the newer ones, but i heard the Turbo 2's smash those pretty well...

Thats what i thought, but I thought that because its a honda and 4 cylinder. When you think about it, 210Hp on a lighter car, with 6speed = i dunno. I need people with REAL experience with 05+ RSX's

Your stock 7 has more HP, and runs much faster 0-60 and quarter. Check to see if you have a boost leak or something. Get a boost gauge and make sure you are hitting 10psi. There is no reason a stock 7 should loose, let alone yours with light mods.

ArmenMAxx 02-11-07 01:56 AM

my cuz got a 14.5 at the trakc last year with his shitty FWD launch. I dunno, the more i think about it, the more i start to believe that maybe a Rsx is a quick as a stock rx7. I just want to hear some experiences with RSX's. Maybe im not the only one. I will check for boost leaks when i get my boost gague.

XxMerlinxX 02-11-07 02:25 AM

No no, RSX-S's are 15 second cars in stock trim. Basic bolt-ons such as i/e/h will get you into the mid to low 14's. Get a boost gauge, you need to start checking out your car to make sure it's okay.

even if he ran a 14.5 in the 1/4 stock, the FD is a mid-high 13 second car. Not to mention, 3rd gear is where your car should really come alive. You should be pulling very hard in 3rd.

As everyone else said, get a boost gague and start troubleshooting. it sounds like there's something wrong with your FD.

BoostedFd3s 02-11-07 12:13 PM

there is definately something wrong with your 7...lol... like they say...a type s shouldnt even be a competition for you...

Maybe you are a good driver...but maybe your car is just plain slow...get it checked up..

BoostedTimmy 02-11-07 02:24 PM

You're down on power, now theres some kid who thinks his RSX is faster than an FD.... :uh:

bajaman 02-11-07 03:21 PM

I raced (from a roll, leaving the parking lot) my co-worker's RSX-S with my OLD engine and it was pretty much no problem to easily beat him.

To parrot everyone else, you are down on power and need to find out why.
Soon....lol!

Good luck!

turbotommy 02-11-07 03:44 PM

i dont know what to say besides something must seriously be wrong with the rx7. a rsx type S is not a fast car. ive driven plenty. they are 200hp. i dont even think they run a mid 14. i dont know whats going on here

ArmenMAxx 02-11-07 04:20 PM

My car has 38k miles, and ive visualy checked the engine bay Thoroughly, tightened all the pipes around the y-pipe and IC. Nothing that i found. I hope there is something wrong with my car, then i dont. If there is something wrong, i have no idea what it is...

Rxmfn7 02-11-07 05:52 PM

One of my best friends had an RSX-S, bought it brand new, Ive had alot of seat time in that car, and I honestly like them alot for a DD. Faster than a stock FD,... hell no. You need to buy a boost gauge ASAP and see what is going on with your boost pattern, and do a compression test. 3rd gear is where the FD shines, you should have put bus-lengths on him.

You need a boost gauge. You might as well quit doing anything else until you get a boost gauge. Even a cheapy from Autozone or something would do the trick, but you need to see what kind of boost pattern you're throwing down.

shmacklepap 02-11-07 07:54 PM

Maybe you have a vaccuum leak somewhere. Look into doing new lines on your rats nest. I think that may be a big problem. Its not too expensive either for the kit, just time consuming....

Hondaeat-R 02-11-07 07:58 PM

if you can't beat a rxs-s with a FD, someone stole your turbo. come on man, that doesn't even make sense. with all seriousness check hard for leaks from the turbo. do you have a aftermarket intercooler ?

ArmenMAxx 02-11-07 09:12 PM

100% stock. Whats the rats nest? the lines going to the bypass valves by the intake? One thing i suck at the most is looking/fixing boost leaks.

socalrotor 02-11-07 09:25 PM

LOL at your cousin.......let him suck it all up till she runs right......then eat his vtec ass!!!!!

TehMonkay 02-12-07 03:08 AM

I laughed when i read the thread title but now i am disappointed.

Check to make sure you're reaching full boost for sure, maybe your cats are clogged?

Montego 02-12-07 06:29 PM

yeah your car is not runing right. Clogged cat, tired turbos/engine, not hitting 10 psi.

third gear actually kinda sucks on a 100% stock FD (comparatively speaking to 2nd gear). But once you uncork it look out!

rotatech 02-12-07 07:49 PM

damn something wrong with your car ???????

spoolnblue 02-12-07 07:57 PM

HMMM, sumthins up, i took one with my fc. and it's only "lightly modded" ;).

ArmenMAxx 02-12-07 08:23 PM

my car has 38K miles? clogged cat is not really possible, compression is above 8.0. I need to do a more thorough search for leaks. Anyone have any tips? Again, i have very bad luck when dealing/looking for boost leaks. All hoses around y-pipe, and ic are tightened to max, what minor or small hoses am i forgetting about. Theres so many damn hoses i dont know where to look!
