nice vid. what boost level where you running at the time?
|
Awesome vid man.
Are you not allowed to pass on this track? Seemed like you could have passed that F430 several times. You're def faster than him. Unless hes not pushing that car enough. But sweet vid either way. And yes im curious what HP you were running in this vid. I really want 400rwhp in my car. lol Must be soo much fun. |

This was the level 3 run group w 4 being the most advanced. You see him pass me with no point-by at the beginning,.. under a YELLOW FLAG, so you get the idea of what kind of a guy this is. Drivers are required to give point-bys to faster cars, clearly this guy couldent admit to himself that the Seven was faster then his F430. In fact, you cant see it but it took corner workers flagging him to get him to point me by! Yep this was low boost (1bar) with 405whp R888 tires Red line 4th 2/3 way down strait, then let off cause I slid it once there at 140mph and felt weird about it. If you take the link to youtube you can see some of the later action with some supercharged Mustangs and a very fast CTS-V, we blow the doors off a porsche something.. |

. Regardless, nice vid :icon_tup: |
If you pay attention you can actually notice when the f430 drivers starts getting mad, he starts throwing the car into corners and getting on the gas quickly. But it didn't matter, taught that jerk a lesson. safe, steady, but fast driving. Im truly shocked that an FD with stock suspension would be able to keep up so well with just hp mods. Great car and great driver.
Another RX7 video that is making me consider looking into FD's. |

ohjonnybomb,
So after you got the point what happened to 430? was he able to keep up of did he fall behind? |
Love Monticello, definitely want to get back on that track again next year...... back in April I whooped up on some C6s and CTS-Vs but no Ferraris in my run group.
Nice vid, and please let me know about any 2011 Monticello track time :icon_tup: |
I was really focused on the wide open road ahead of me, tunnel vision really. This was only my second time on any track, and I was in a very fast run group without an instructor, first session of the day. I felt some (self induced) pressure to push it, fearing I might not be able to keep up with this group. I dont look back for a little while, just tryin to hit the apexes and judge my deceleration right (much harder to do without a car in front to help me guage it), but when I did look back he was gone, nobody at all behind me. My driving really got a lot better (faster) as the day went on, I got to drive four 20+min sessions. The CTSV in the later video, was really the fastest car I saw all day.

thanks for the recap

Evo - Ferrari supplies tuned cars to media, forbids media from driving customer cars a cut/paste
Chris Harris has just cost Evo all access to future Ferrari launches but I applaud him for spreading the word Looks like it's not just the F1 team that's paranoid, same paranoia permeates the road car division the important bits from http://ca.jalopnik.com/5760248/how-ferrari-spins Quote: as a journalist you are expressly forbidden from driving any current Ferrari road car without permission from the factory. So if I want to drive my mate's 458 tomorrow, I have to ask the factory. Quote: rival brands just hand over their car with nothing more than a polite suggestion that you should avoid crashing it too heavily, and then return a week later. Quote: I think it started in 2007 when I heard that Ferrari wanted to know which test track we were going to use for Autocar's 599 GTB road test, but in reality the rot had set in many years earlier. Why would it want to know that? "Because," said the man from the Autocar office, "The factory now has to send a test team to the circuit we chose so that they can optimize the car to get the best performance from it." They duly went to the track, tested for a day, crashed the car, went back to the factory to mend the car, returned, tested and then invited us to drive this "standard" 599. Quote: How bad has it been? I honestly don't know where to start. Perhaps the 360 Modena press car that was two seconds faster to 100mph than the customer car we also tested. Quote: Ferrari will never admit that its press cars are tuned, but has the gall to turn up at any of the big European magazines' end-of-year-shindig-tests with two cars. One for straight line work, the other for handling exercises. Quote: Remember the awesome 430 Scuderia? What a car that was, and still is. One English magazine went along with all the cheating-bullshit because the cars did seem to be representative of what a customer might get to drive, but then during the dyno session, the "standard" tires stuck themselves to the rollers. And this is the nub: how fucking paranoid do you have to be to put even stickier rubber on a Scuderia? It's like John Holmes having an extra two inches grafted onto his dick. Quote: So, when we used an owner's 430 Scud because Ferrari wouldn't lend us the test car, it was obliterated in a straight line by a GT2 and a Lambo LP 560-4, despite all the "official" road test figures suggesting it was faster than Halley's Comet. The forums went nuts and some Scud owners rightly felt they hadn't been delivered the car they'd read about in all the buff books. |
^ WOW very eye opening.

Thats really quite sad ferrari feels it needs to do that. Im actually not too surprised they did this seeing that a C6 ZO6 will pretty much wipe the floor with the 430.
Motor Trend broke a 911 GT2 a few months ago testing it against the ZR1, Porsche gladly took the car back and fixed it. Porsche didn't scoff at what happened, they said ok we need to fix it. Maybe MT discovered a problem that all GT2's need addressed. Thus Porsche is helping themselves and not running away scared to bring back a tuned ringer with major league chew as tires. I think this is more of a sign that Ferrari is not on top of the road car segment anymore. You can't be on top all of the time. Not that it is behind Porsche, Audi, and Lamborgini. Nissan and Chevy have cars that would murder the poor f430 for less than half the price. Maybe Ferrari's poser status has finally been brought to the surface. I'll take a 400hp FD or a ZO6 with long tube headers any day. I'd save the rest for tools and a garage to tune my cars in. Also the 512TR, 512M, 355, and 360 were better looking cars. F430 is too many angles. |
wow great vid. you have amazing patience to keep pace and distance for that long.
|
It's funny to watch the OP let off so many times when he's still behind F430.
|
I told my coworker about that article laying out Ferrari's shady ways and he said "huh, I guess fascism never really Italy!"
|
Nice driving skills:nod:
