FC vs MV augusta brutalie and CBR 600RR hill climb

Ok well a convo at work lead to me saying im pretty sure my FC could beat a workmates 08 CBR600RR up the local mountain road. After spending a while trying to tell him how a car can usually out brake and out handle a bike without him believing me he agreed for a race this weekend.

Anyway was talking to a mate on msn and he has on 05 MV augusta brutalie 750 and goes up the hills most weekends and that arvo he said to come for a run to see how it went. So we met out there and i did take a video camera and put it on a home made mount that i zip tied it too but problem is i zip tied the zoom button down rofl but he lead i followed and to my suprise i was right on his ass the whole way up fairly easily i coulda passed him if the corners were wider, and given how much faster I was coming outta the corners he didn't leave me on the straights by too much, if he did i caught him in the braking zone. He sorta thought the car would win though.

So i ended up racing the CBR this weekend, let him lead i followed his bike seemed a little faster on the straights but as soon as it came to the first corner i was right on him, same thing the car just outbraked and out handled him. He was suprised at how easily the car "kept up" so i said fine, u wanna chase me up and we headed back down. We only did a half run as the old FC was starting to get a bit low on fuel but it left him pretty easily. I lost sight of him after the first 4 corners.

The corners on the hill are pretty tight and the straights arent very long so im not really suprised that I won but was by how much. I have some footage of the CBR run but i was that close u can see his number plate so I wont be posting it, just took it incase he tries to tell the guys at work he won =D

Oh btw my car is making 230rwhp has cusco front and rear strut braces and sway bars and is running tein coilovers with electronic damping controllers, also running 215/45/zr17 eagle f1 gsd3 tyres. Best quarter mile time is a 13.5@104mph 2.0sec 60ft so its not real fast in a straight line, just built to handle

hey man... nice

i'd take you on my CBR6RR.... ha haha its alot harder to ride a bike than drive a car. i'll give it to you that you have much more rubber on the ground....

you feel alot more comfortable getting wild in a car than on a bike. especially on public roads. but yea... usually a nice handling car will get a sportbike on streets.

i go out and scout the roads with friends before we go ride hard. once the road is clear that's one less thing you have to worry about...like gravel in the road...etc. there's so much stuff to keep track of when you are ballanced on two wheels/100+whp/400lbs or less. i usually take my 6rr for gettin crazy. on my 1krr i seriously doubt mofo's in cars would wnat to try and keep up. but i've been riding for a long time...track days included. i'm not great....but there's a dif between a guy who rides and a guy who can just ride.

either way though....stay safe and watch out for us bikers!

I don't think your friends can ride very well.

Slow Rotor 01-05-09 11:33 PM

Well the guy on the cbr wasn't real good guy on the mv had alot more experience. Believe what you want, most cars made to handle will easily beat a bike around most corners, and if you saw the road it was definetly in my favour

Couldn’t agree more

I call bs and unfortunately you have no way to prove me wrong because if you post the footage you are an idiot

A decent or even adequate rider on the MV would have disappeared after 3 corners.

2ndGen.rocket 01-06-09 06:42 AM

I'm not saying that you are lying, I'm just saying your friend can't ride. I know exactly what a car can do against a bike, I own both. I also know that a 230hp FC is not going to keep up with an experienced rider on any 600cc motorcycle.

I love pop-up lights 01-06-09 07:30 PM

Did you rub your dick on the Agusta? Oh god....I would have....fucking sexiest bike ever *JOYGASM!!* Just thinking about one gives me a raging hard on

Slow Rotor 01-07-09 02:02 AM

Lol then your proving you have no idea, hp doesnt mean shit around corners, and there are only 3 straights up the hill that arent that long. And on the tight shit i think my lack of hp can be a slight advantage my car doesnt like to spin up much so i can just go flat out the whole way, have driven a few more powerful cars up there and its much more of a handfull. However yes the guy on the 600 did suck. I am suprised how many people here think that bikes have an advantage

Slow Rotor 01-07-09 02:06 AM

I shall hit the mv up for another run sometime within the next month or so and ill film it with no plates.

Dude, your friend can't ride. I don't know what you are smoking down there, but you need to put it down for a bit. I own an FC and a CBR600, I've driven and ridden both extensively for years. I know what they are both capable of. Yes, a car can have an advantage in many different ways. However, even a moderate rider would have no problem pulling away from a mildly powered FC on an MV Agusta, or a 600RR.

I love people that "think" they can ride and how fast they think they are on tight windy roads.

I promise you you will lose on the street on a bike especially as the turns get tighter.

Bike > Car

a good rider on any new 600cc sport bike can smoke a 230hp fc "built to handle" on any course.

Any new bike is set up to handle extremely well, thats why they race them almost stock.

Here's some data.

One of last year's redline timeattack winners drove a honda s2000 and posted a time of 1:12 at Gateway INTL. in St. Louis

My first race was on a stock suzuki sv650 (70hp) and I ran a 1:19. Experienced SV riders were posting 1:15's. The fast guys on 600's (race prepped, 120ish hp to the wheels) were posting 1:07-1:10.

There is a key difference in the track for bikes and cars though. Cars went on the main drag by way of part of a NASCAR oval, bikes rounded the corner parallel to the oval but on a flat access road which acted as a bottle neck because organizers felt bikes speeds were too high. I would say it would make the car's times 2-5 seconds faster.

The moral of this story? At the limit, they're pretty close, vipers and real race cars and the like will post better times than bikes, but your homies on the bikes should have DUSTED you. That's their fault. Good job.

2ndGen.rocket 01-07-09 06:35 PM

Yes, they are very close and they can definitely be beat. But those bikes should not have been beaten by that FC. I'm not saying that it didn't happen, I'm sure it did. I'm just saying that it shouldn't have with better riders.

And nowhere did I say I think I can ride fast. I said that I have experience on a bike and I know what it is capable of.

A. This was not at a track, it was on a winding road with MUCH lower speeds. (Braking, traction, traffic, dirt, oil spots etc).

B. Your above example is crap because it includes race tires (aka not street tires) and closed circuits etc etc etc so it is irrelevant (In terms of a falacy it is called a red herring). In fact other than a fully race prepped bike, the experienced street bike riders (On a bike that is BUILT for the corners) were still 3+ sec slower than the S2000 so once again thanks for proving my point.

C. The guy that thinks there is anything "stock" about any class of AMA Pro series is a fool. The shocks and springs alone are so much better than stock you cant imagine. Yes the engines may be kind of stockish but that is it (Most importantly SLICKS) as they say "There aint nothin stock about a stock car".

You guys are the same guys that think bikes are unbeatable on highway pulls by anything less than a 2000 hp Supra

2ndGen.rocket 01-09-09 03:46 PM

No, in fact we aren't. My bike can be pretty well handled on highway pulls by my friends 530hp Cobra.

We aren't talking about that though.

TwinCharged RX7 01-09-09 05:18 PM

The fact that it was on the street has nothing to do with it, havent you ever seen the vids of the crazy japanese guys in the mountains on bikes? 2 way roads, blind corners, and they are using the full road and scraping knees. maybe the drivers of the 600s were easing up due to the road conditions, but that was their choice.

i said it before and i'll say it again, an experienced bike racer on any new 600 should smoke an FC, especially in the corners. highway pulls are different, and should not be brought into the comparison. But I cant lie, i can't wait to dust a liter bike with my fd in a highway pull this summer. brake boost and gooooo.

My bike (1:19) was a stock bike with street tires, not slicks. that's the point I was making, stock bike, not even a 600, on a slower course, with a 1st timer, only a few seconds behind an s2000 ON SLICKS and probably built balls to the wall, with a professional driver that's been through multiple racing schools and did Kart as a kid (by his own admission).

^that's the real comparison I'm making. My stock ass wasn't too far away from a stud.

Who said anything about AMA pro series? this was CCS amateurs. The kid that set a track record that day (1:06.90) I came to the track with. He rode an r6 with upper end work but had never had the engine apart (head separated from the block). It dyno'd between 115-120 at the wheels. He had ohlins forks and shocks that anybody could buy, but most won't.

The 600's are every bit as street bike as sv650s. I don't know how you figure that much. It's just a slower bike. I promise a cbr600 and mv agusta have more in common with the faster bikes than mine.
