Not my video, but found it while browsing Youtube. Does this FD belong to one of our own members on here??

Don't some aftermarket clutches like ACT tend to do that?

Those were two beastly cars.

ArmAnirx7 12-19-11 06:41 PM

Whoever this was.. you must redeem yourself! I would love to see a rematch

Narfle 12-19-11 07:13 PM

locked out of third = missed third gear

BOOSTALMIGHTY7 12-20-11 06:48 AM

They should do a roll next time.

You are ignorant if you try to run against an EVO of the line.

oyvindjs 12-20-11 04:34 PM

Getting a lead doesn't always mean he'll get the win. Light to light you may not have enough road to claim a win but in the 1/4 mile its anyones game.

Def can't win if you can't use third though.

Gringo Grande 12-20-11 10:20 PM

Eddie I have to disagree with you on this one. An AWD Evo is going to beat a RWD FD from a dig everything else considered equal.

Mustangs and camaros will beat the FD off the dig all things being "equal"(flame suit on)....but the FD will still take them.

My point is winning on the dig doesn't mean winning the race.
Yes the Evo will get the dig from the line but if the 7 has any balls (and it sounded like it did) it'll catch up quick.

Ignorant to run evo off a line? So we need conditions for the FD to race certain cars to make up for lack of torque or handling to help us with our chances of winning? What's the point then?...to only race from a roll cause that's "equal".

"I won't race you off the line...but if we race from a roll...game on"...Really?

Think EVO, Subie, or V8 guys are saying..."Don't race the FD from a roll..." ?

That's BS.

Or maybe I'm missing the point of racing these days now that I drive a truck and a minivan LOL.:icon_tup:

evot23 12-21-11 05:50 AM

The 7 had two car lengths. If he hit third the race may have been different....but that EVO looked like it had some torque and looks like it would have run down the RX7 even from a roll.

Gringo Grande 12-21-11 09:48 AM

Eddie all things being equal = car with same HP, Driver Ability, etc. the first one off the line is going to win. =)

evot23 12-21-11 10:07 AM

Yes, theoretically speaking... but when in real life are are all things equal in HP, Torque, car weight, driver, etc?

AND we're talking about racing different cars with different properties...not theory.

I just have issues with the "not wanting to race someone from a dig cause you'll lose idea".

He chose unwisely to race from a dig (with 2 car lengths) and that's why he lost? ...cause he raced from a dig vs a roll? C'mon...

I'm still taking the EVO from a dig with AWD.

ProjectD 12-21-11 09:30 PM

No worries man. Hell, I would agree with your logic but then I'd be wrong too... ;)

evot23 12-21-11 09:49 PM

lol. why I love this place.

The darkside could take that evo from a dig.

evot23 12-21-11 11:12 PM

Pictures and information is in the original thread.. here: https://www.rx7club.com/west-sale-wanted-classifieds-195/awd-drive-setup-13b-20b-979976/

so you can dig with the evo

funkjaw 12-23-11 04:01 PM

All this talk about the EVO would take the dig..

BUT!!!! Watch the video! The 7 took the dig and had him until he missed 3rd! What are you people talking about???

Don't know what video you were watching. He had 2 cars and the break and that evo was right on him quick even before he missed 3rd. that's a fast ass evo for sure.

well, sort of, you would have to take in account of gearing and aerodynamics also which would favor the rx7, but yeah i hate when awd cars wanna run me from a dig,, cause 99% of the time i take the bait, they end up letting out when i am still in 2nd or 3rd gear cause they know i will chase them down by 4th
