Cluster F*(&ed By Volkwagon and 3 SUVS??

Ok, so I've had a new downpipe and catback on my basically stock 93 FD and never really pushed the car from a standsill since getting these mods. I've pushed the car at 60+, but never in 1 or 2nd gear, car seemed faster but nothing really crazy. For the last 8 months I haven't done a bit of street racing cause most of the time I am paranoid about what could go wrong and trying to fight the reamining 3 points on my liscense, but I guess yesterday I got the itch.

I'm at a stoplight on a 4 lane highway. It's a delayed light so I'm sittin there a while, pretty much me by myself. So a bunch of SUVs and a Volkswagon Golf pulls up behind me. This civic pulls up next to me puching heavy base, like, feel it in my knees bass. The guys looks over at my gauge pod, then looks at me, then revs his engine (wtf??) SO I got the itch, I'm like, ok, just to 60, the sped limits 55 so not so bad.

So the light turns green, nobody in front of the civic or myself, just cars behind. He launches hard and I granny launch to keep traction. As soon as I hit 7-8mph I floor it, hit 7000 rpm in less than a second, shift well, my tires spin for a second fighting for grip as I floor it in second, then regain grip and 60 is here in a matter of a couple of seconds. Holy crap I didn't believe how well the car pulled in 1st and 2nd with just basic exhaust mods.

So I level out at 60 about 30 seconds later I can't see the civic cause he fell back behind other cars. The volkswagon golf passes me with both the driver and the passenger staring at my car wide eyed as they drive by. But then these 3 SUVs pull up around me and box me in (one in front, one behind, and one to the left of me) all 3 SUV drivers and passengers looking at my car and smiling. So they keep close around me and box me in for like 15 minutes then let me through (guess they wanted a good look at the car).

Kind of a sad kill I guess, but it was fun.

Oh, and you know it's sad when you know your car has a worn out suspension and you can still humiliate a brand new Z4 around turns.

You can bet your ass I'd follow an FD around and stare at it for a few miles too. Nice kill BTW.

nice kill man

fyi, you can still get a ticket for "pushing your car" so to say even though you stay under the limit..my friend got a ticket for that 4 months ago, i think the cop penalized him for excessive speeding or driving without consideration or something..the cop explained that to him but i forgot what he told me..all he did was redline 1st and coasted second and stayed under 50mph..still got a ticket..

yeah, I found out about the excessive speeding or excessive acceleration or whatever it is from a friend of mine. kind of sucks, need to be even more careful I guess.

yeah
excessive acceleration(what a crock of ____)

a friend of mine got a ticket for excessive acceleration, aggressive driving and racing.

The best part, he did none of it. He was in his Lincoln Navi, hadn't even gotten it painted, no wheels anything, pure stock. IT was about a month before X-mas, he had his wife, thier 2 kids and his MOTHER in the car! He was making a u-turn, and the wheels made a little squeak ( as almost every car will when turning at full lock- think about the sounds in a parking garage)

well, there was a cop sitting at the light oncoming traffic, my friend saw the cop, made the u and that's that. when the light turned green for the cop, my buddy said he saw flashing lights, slowed and got to the right, expecting the cop to zoom past....

but was right on his tail, on the loudspeaker and everything, telling him to pull over this instant ( or some such remark)

the whole family was shocked that they were getting pulled over.

ended up going to court of course, and with my buddy , his wife, thier kids all in the car and his mother too. didn't look like a guy who'd be racing a big SUV with all his family in it. The judge threw it out, actually reprimanded the officer in court as well.

but yeah, hold off on the streets a bit. I know here in FL(and a few other states too) as soon as you get a ticket for 'racing' of anykind, it's automatic licence suspension for 18 months!!! yikes, that should slow ya down!
