87 tII vs MKIII supra

I got my car out of the shop yesterday ( 3weeks on the shop  ), put RB 4.30 ring and pinion. Im running 10psi on the stock turbo normal mods I estimate 230whp at the most. Anyway so i'm crusing down this back road doing about 40 mph and this white supra starts to ride my ass. He clearly wanted a piece of me so I reved to about 5grand put the car in 2nd gear, he down shifted and I guned it. I pulled about 5 cars on him up to the top of 3rd and let go :ky: . We stoped at a gas station about a mile down the road. Pretty cool guy told me he we was running 15 psi on his stock turbo, he has a fcd and some other bolt ons and complemented my car a couple of times. But he was suprised to learn I was only running 10 psi :) . He told me he had taken a few FC's before :squint: . Now he wants to run me on 20 psi. I agreed but I have to put in the 800cc secondaries I have at home and increase from 10psi to 12psi and do some fine tunning. so maybe next I'll race him next week and let you all now the out come.

MKIIIs pretty heavy, modded are respectable but unless bigger turbo or extensive mods aren't as faast as they are heavy of course unless gutted. Haven't raced one since my port but spanked a lot of 'em before so we'll see. Sweet kill.

yeah I used to own a MKIII supra. Fun car, but they are pretty friggin heavy, I'd say that's their biggest problem. That's why i'm going with 7 for my next car. ;-)
Ne way nice kill.

Good call. For a second I thought their biggest problems were spun rod bearings and blown headgaskets

I used to own one until it blew. You can make crazy power out of those cars if you do them right and stay careful with the bearings.

Former MK3 Turbo supra owner myself...he's planning on running 20 psi on his STOCK turbo?!?!? The turbo's are only effiecent to about 15 lbs...not to mention other issues about mk3s and boost (headgasket issues...) so I would suggest to you that u mention that to him...I wouldn't want to hear that he blew his car up racing because of the boost and typical mk3 problems.

The funny thing is my friend bought an 87TII within a week of me getting my mk3...3 yrs after that, he bought my supra and i tried to get his T2!!! but he had sold it to another friend of ours the week before...So, when i got home...i got an FD :)

My yonger cousin has a MkIII supra. I have an 86 swapped TII. He told me something about him fixing the gasket problem. He goes on a forum for supras like this one is for sevens and rotary. He told me he is going to be making around 300-315 soon with a few mods. He told me that he is going to change out his AFM with one from a lexus V8, 550cc injectors, KnN Cold air intake, DP, adn meat head gasket. As for me hmm lets see, custom full 3 inch turboback exhaust, FMIC (Soon), Intake, and a FCD. And I'm gonna shed quite a few pounds from the car. removing uneeded stuff from the car... I don't know if I will take him but I'll soon find out... Nice Kill
