378whp 344.7trq FD vs 387whp 420trq EVO vs 500bhp 523trq Viper
The high torque of the EVO can be explained by the quick spool of the stock turbo. It is probably hitting 29 psi very early in the revs and building a lot of midrange power; however, I'm sure it is running out of steam on the top end.

I don't know what RPM range the evo falls to when shifting, but the 7 with a lighter flywheel will be in the 5600 to 8K range during the race. So Mike's car will be from 350 to 330 rwhp during the race. The EVO will be from 375 to 340 at redline, going from 5000 to 7300K or what ever redline, based on the dyno graph Jasil attached which would be similar to the car Mike raced. Plus the extra torque Mike's already mentioned.

just went and got my dyno..the car makes340ish @5800, 350 by 6100, 360 by 6300, tthen holds 360 till 7200, drops off to 350 till 7500, the drops to 340 by 8k. so basically 20rwhp range for 2200rpms. with the avg being arouind 355 i would say. having said that i think trex's car would make more avg rwhp than my car for the power band. thats different than what i was thinking
Sorry i cant post it...dont have scanner.
this is on stock twins stock motor.

Also worth noting is that, when comparing the two dyno's I noticed that by 4500 rpm, the EVO has alread hit 360hp where my fd only hit 270.

Edit: I just reread the post and I guess you're talking about "running out of steam on the topend." What I meant by that is his torque dropping off. He could still maintain enough torque to pull you badly; however, if he had a properly sized turbo, he could both have quick spool (though not as quick) and maintain the torque longer over the RPM range creating more horsepower.

Interesting conversation...
I'm the owner of the Evo that Mike raced... just thought I'd drop by and say hi. ^.^
Here's a link to the runs on video:
Evo VIII GSR vs FD TT
My apologies about the incorrect whp/wtq #'s in the beginning of the video... didn't know the exact #'s.
Also, for anyone's curiosity's sake, a link to my dyno graph is in my profile. It's the power I currently drive daily with. Mike's car is very fast... and so was the Viper. I kept telling my buddies that there's no way in hell I'd win agains either of them... then again, I rarely ever go into a race thinking I'll win... I 'tend to race a lot of cars I expect to lose to. Check out my site for more videos (also in my sig)... I'll have the Viper one hosted later.

Good for you to post and that did not look close at all. Buschur stage 4 is a great start.....now just throw on a AEM and his GT35R kit or wait for the new one with upgraded wheels and you can trap 140mph like Dan does.
i raced a 380+ evo from a roll in my t-78 with 16psi.... i didn't have much truoble 3 cars by 130+ but he did have his gril in the car. i have a custom system with a roll bar so about the same i guess ( a petite girl). i have an evo also and that thing spools so fast on the stock turbos. i will wait till i get it up near the 400 awhp let my brother race it against me in the fd. but i will hopefully be running 25-30 psi in my fd by then. kevin
