1996 Probe GT vs. Me 1988 GXL

So, the PGT has a working VRIS system. Which works much like our VDI and aux ports. It also has an underdrive pulley, which maybe adds 1/2 hp at the wheels. So, mostly stock.

My car, the mods are in my sig.

Basically, we are getting on the highway and he is behind me, and on my rear the whole time getting on, and i have it floored. As soon as we get off the on ramp he jumps into the other lane and flys past me. Not walks, but flys.

Then, we get side by side on the highway and he beeps three times, and I floor it and he just messes with me, laughing, and then he floors it and starts to pull hard on me.

Last time was from a red light. I rev'd up and dropped it and took off. It was alright until I had to shift and then he flew past me. We slowed down around 70 MPH, speed limit is 60 MPH, and he was way ahead of me.

Props to my friends PGT. Gotta love the light car and the powerful V6. I hope I can beat him sometime.

**All the racing was done with no one else on the highway except us. So, we didn't endanger anyone else. Just our selves.

:) Prepare to be flamed. People on this forum have a hard time accepting that the PGT is a nice light weight car.

I had a PGT before, loved the hell out of that thing. awesome commuters, pretty quick too.

....agree. i had an mx6. Loved it. Hey anyone ever ponder on the fact that the fd looks just like a 2nd gen mx6? . . . !?

Both made by the same company.

Eh, i typically ignore flames. But the PGT is a very light car. The only thing that sucks about them is their suspension. When we were doing some of the suspension work on my friends car i noticed that the rear isn't independent.

I think I could beat my friend through the corners, but coming out of them he has the advantage of torque.

Eh, I say good kill on his end.

PGT, FMT, QRS, XYZ.....it doesn't matter, it was still a Probe. :icon_no2:

Yeah, the PGT weighs in between an FD and a TII.

I'd argue that the only weakness in that car was that it's FWD not RWD or AWD. But don't underestimate it in the corners, even though it's FWD, I beat a few cars in the corners that I shouldn't have been able to. Eclipse GSX, stock Miata(NA), and of course the typical shmucks(mustangs, camaros)

But anyway, if he's a compitent driver and can keep it under control, race him in the twisties, you might be surprised. Also, those cars don't have much/any torque steer, so that's another plus for him when you're racing.

Yup. Nice car. Eventually I will be able to beat him.

Wish I had a TII :).

I have been pondering the idea of getting an MR2 Turbo. The MKII ones. I think that is what it is. 94+
