Successful first track day!

Well my FD and I ran our first track day at Sebring last sunday and we had a blast. The guys at Kilo racing got the raw tune done just in time for the event and a handful of last minute touches had us off to the track without a minute to spare.

The new motor is running great. the new precision BB turbo is a beast, coupled with some new exhaust work and a new TiAL 44mm wastegate and we are putting down 400+Hp @ 1.4 bar.

It rained off and on all day, so we kept it at the low boost point all day (330Hp @ 1 bar) and managed to hang with all the new GT-R's, M3's, and Carrera's. (Even beat a few down the back straight)
I managed to put the car into a nice 540 on turn 3 after a quick spool after a fresh rain shower, but I got both feet in and managed not to find the wall. A little dirt on the wheels but no bent metal and we were off and running again.

My only complaint all day is the suspension. The previous owner put a set of lowered drag springs on the car and even with the tokico adjustables on 5 all the way around the car bottoms in the turns and tucks the tires into the wells so hard they rub.
So a new set of springs are in order once I crawl the forum to figure out what I should buy.

Ugh I hate you!

I only got to run my Honda Civic @ Sebring once before I hacked the crap out of it. Way back in `99. Ah college days.

If you find something about spring setups on here, please post it as I am having the same problem trying to find a thread that talks about it. What part of FL are you located at anyway? My ole stomping ground was Tampa.

I'm in tampa.

drag springs??? like for drag racing or are we talking cut springs?

Were you using the stock 2-rotor or did you have a 3/4 in there? 400+ hp sounds AMAZING for the old 2.

The springs that are on the car seem to be more for show or drag. they give a very soft unload to increase the squat on launch and the car settles well in a straight line. The sprung weight of the chassis is transfered perfectly into the rear end smooth enough to root the rear tires and give me a solid launch without wheel hop. All things that would suggest a suspension setup for drag racing. now whether that was on purpose or the fact that the FD is always that stable I can't say. This is my first one, and it came with this setup.

Either way I need a stiffer rate spring in order to road race the car or even drive it quickly in rough corners on the street.

As for the engine:
it is a 2 rotor street ported, with RA super seals and a big turbo and is consistently putting down 400 + hp

Lets just hope it stays together!
It should according to the two shops that have had their hands in it.
I'm running a 750 gph fuel pump, 1600 cc injectors, modified fuel rail and regulator, Microtech LTS-8 ECU, greddy FM intercooler and exhaust, Precision BB 68ar turbo, and TiAL 44mm wastegate with profec-B EBC.

now if I could get it to hold in the corners it would be great.
Runs like a bat-out-of-hell...
...stops on a dime...
...corners like a model T on flat tires :(

but it sounds and looks like a fire breathing dragon.

Its kind of hard to learn when your first track event is in a decked out car. But hey, if you can do it then more power to ya. Congrats on your first event with no mishaps. By far, track days are the most fun I've ever had in any event. I just don't have the money to support my habit like I would prefer.

That must've been scary on the bumps in the final turn

Heh!
You know the best ride I ever had was from a girl that had a Tooth knocked out!
You rode the car hard and put it away wet!
Good job!
