Kekeke... finally did a hand brake turn :D Some steering issues

Let's just say I had my way with an out of the way parking lot, late at night, so I finally got around to actually doing a hand-brake turn.

It was fun. My first try was a perfect 180. Second try wasn't quite as impressive. Made a bit more noise though... and left a slight tire mark.

But after driving around in very tight circles (not breaking traction) for probably 10 minutes, I decided to bug out before I attracted any pedestrian attention...

The handbrake does NOTHING unless your flooring it (in first at least). Although I've never tried it while going faster than 25 or so (near redline in first).

Also, am I the only person whose steering locks up for a second when you suddenly change steering direction and hit center position, and then have it suddenly get light again?

Is this normal? Or is it just my crappy RPM-sensing 17:1 power rack having a slight hydraulic lock (because it goes away after maybe half a second and I can continue to steer.

Well, at least I know my tires are decent, considering it's rather hard to keep myself in my seat (since the crappy lap belt doesn't tighten up), even when I'm not giving it the juice, at full lock (doing circles).

I didn't want to make too much noise or marks so I didn't really try "drifting" or spinning the tires.

I really need a proper place to practice this stuff... as it would probably be frowned open, doing it where I was. Although it's out of the general public eye...

Apparently lots of people have the same problem I do, with the power steering locking up.

But the issue as to why still stands...

It would be nice if there was a way to fix it without removing the PS...

Although supposedly the 15:1 ratio racks don't have the issue (not to mention having much faster steering and better feel at speed).
