Favorite type of pass?

Anyone have favorites for types of attacks where you gain a spot? Mine has always been getting a run off an exit of the previous corners to a mild S-turn, lining up on the outside for the first S-turn and catching my opponent when the turn reverses and I'm on the inside. It just looks so clean to me.

Do you have any videos on your passes? I would love to learn the different techniques that are used in road racing.

nah, unfortunately, i don't have a camera in my car yet. I'm not really that experienced of a road racer, I'm sure other people on the board have better things to show that I do.

haha I do the same thing! You pull to the outside and they are probably thinking "oh he cant pass me out there" and then the next turn your sitting on the inside. However I dont trust my skills enough to road race yet so I do that in video games

I like to pass people on the outside of freeway on-ramps while thier pathetic car is attempting to go fast and stay to the inside the whole time like that's the line to take or something. I guess I might be the only person stupid enough to do this but nobody overtakes my rx-7 in a corner on the street. Or gets away from me.

So I would say my favorite kind of pass is a pass on the street when somebody thinks they can drive.

My other favorite time was when i owned a 94 VTEC Prelude and a guy in a Civic coupe tried to follow me through a high speed on ramp. You gotta be kidding a Civic with all the suspension mods in the world is basically a stock Prelude as far as grip capacity goes. Needless to say he crashed the car and wasn't even close anyways. The closest he got was under braking to enter the turn where I purposly blocked him and slowed us both down to a more than safe speed from there I just ran the corner at close to full throttle while using a bit of left foot braking to keep the car balanced and the rest is history. BB4 Preludes are very good handling cars btw too, but you have to be able to drive to get anything out of a stock one since they will understeer in factory form or throttle lift oversteer really bad. That's just stock ones though modified ones are just as good as any sports car. I once even beat a Turbo 2 through some mountain roads with that car as well. I kinda miss that car again now......... Maybe I'll get another one for a project after my FB gets further along.

Post above me=Fail

This is a race forum which does not include the word street :) No offense.

Now then, I'd have to say that my favorite passing technique is easily...damn you Roen! After sitting here for 10 minutes trying to think of all the ways to pass people I have concluded that you're right. There is simply no feeling greater.

Late braking into a corner is close...as is letting a little distance (giving a 'comfort' zone) just before pouncing is damn close. <----Especially if you fake inside and go outside or vice versa :D. Now THAT is pretty!

Inside to outside is very very very tough to do........I can't think of a time when I've seen that successfully done. Unless that guy is just really really really slow, difficulty factor goes through the roof.

I will let you know now!

Just have 500 RWHP then you will have no problem passing most people.

The best time to pass anybody is when they make a mistake or when they wave you by.

Didn't you watch Initial D foo??!! j/k:lol:

"Supa Dupa Late Braking!!!!"

Roen 12-11-07 11:21 AM

Damn......you must've been up all night.......

Passing when cars are at the same power level is so much more interesting, since anyone can just step on the gas. The best types of passes are when the other person is driving perfectly in the same type of car and yet, he can't do anything about you passing him.

True Roen,

Passing someone with the same set up such as in spec racing.
Driver skill and knowing when to pounce on someones mistakes.
Keep the pressure on the lead guy and he is bound to mess up.

Favorite pass? Has to be a rimshot. In the wet.

If you can pull that off, you are a god among men.
