The Clemson Sports Car Club owns and maintains an '84 12A that see regular autocross use. We have had 6 or 7 people drive the car at a single event. It holds up well! Koni Reds and last season we had it on RA1s, probably the most fun car I've ever driven.

My daily driver mazda2 is quite awesome at it however. |
Very nice Fidelity101 :D I'd love to try out a Mazda2. They look like they'd be fun on course.
Here's a Video of mine where I didn't get so lucky. It was at a small TnT and I ended up spinning out at the end. But, I did manage to kick a cone through the timing gate to finish the run. :icon_tup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRRTU4Mj7kI Another pic I dug up: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6048/6...5eacec01_b.jpg |
The 7 is not setup for autoX, terrible times. slow as hell but sideways a fuck.
The 2 DOMINATES, even with my factory all seasons, it truly is an H stock class car lol. |
A friend of mine took me for a ride in his 1G and what a ride it was.
As you can see by the huge smile on my face, I was having fun!!! http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/DSC_0195.jpg http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/DSC_0369.jpg http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/DSC_0368.jpg http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/DSC_0358.jpg http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/DSC_0194.jpg http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...E/DSC_0141.jpg One of mine from a couple years ago. http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/w...8011cc1900.jpg |

First AutoX in the 7. The body roll looks pretty intense from the outside.
|
Now that I decided to drive dirty, I won't have any autox pics of the 7 but I will have plenty of RallyCross pics and vids.
The pics doesn't really do the mud justice. This was March 24th and we had about 3 inches of snow then it warmed up to mid thirties when the snow melted into very sticky mud. The afternoon runs were a good 10-15 seconds slower and we cut it short because it wasn't fun anymore. http://images12.fotki.com/v155/photo...DSC6162-vi.jpg |
This isn't my current FD but a few shots of me from back when I borrowed my friend Josh's car for a few weeks.

This old photo of my car makes it look lifted by comparison. The suspension is now full race and it is indeed quick; in the corners at least.
|
I've been to 3 AutoX's now and I can't think of another way I'd rather spend a weekend. I need to get grippier tires and brakes though. Braking is kind vague and I slide everywhere but goddamnit I love my car.

I use Carbotech AX-6 pads on my autocross car and they are awesome! I have experienced EBC Yellow Stuff and Hawk HP+ and prefer the Carbotech pads by far.
Extreme initial bite from cold, better with heat and will boil your brake fluid before fading. Actually not sure how hard you can push these pads. I've had my rotors glowing bright red and still had great performance from these pads. Furthermore; unlike the EBC and Hawk pads, the Carbotech pads are very gentle on rotors and the brake dust isn't corrosive. I buy mine here. http://5xracing.com/b-974-75994-carbotech.html Combine these pads with SS braided brake lines and you'll be blown away by the difference. Just make sure you do both axles at the same time. |

Upgrading to some decent tires is going to help the cars braking more than any brake pads would... |
The Carbotech AX6 pads are specifically designed for autocross. Modulation is ridiculously easy. They also work great on the street and in the rain.
You are correct that HPS pads are fine but for autocross use the Carbotech pads are superior. |
|
Gotta love the hitch. :D
