You need a tire scraper?

I just bought one of these recently and I can't say enough about how well it works and how cheap it is. If your race tires pick up rocks, you need one of these.

I think every event that they bring some to, they sell out QUICK! :)

I see a lot of my karting peeps out on the track doing this. some of the more fantatical guys use a small propane torch and a spackle/putty knife thing to get the top layer of crud off.

me, i just drive it.

parade laps were invented for scrubbing tires of rocks . I suppose this is a handy item for the cone dodgers.

So at the end of the day when you pull off the track and into the paddock and the tires pick up every rock and piece of garbage on the way you just leave it stuck on there until next time? ;)

Yes, you try to always stay on the racing line to reduce pickup and if the tires are going to be reused then you need to scrub them on the parade lap. A couple of corners or swerves(sp?) will clean the tires. I don't think scrapping the tires is going to help speed up this process. Now if you are autox'ing then you don't have the luxury of parade laps, so this may help drivers on slicks.

It's meant for autocrossers.
We gots to have all the grip right from the start. ;)

What ever happened to big, stiff brushes, or a quick burnout?

Burnouts are only going to work if you are four wheel drive...
