Sweet! So what kind of power you putting in it, what class ya gonna run? What kind of rear suspension does it have?
|
I'm putting my PP 13b around 300hp, susp Penske remore shock and independent rear end.
Bennt |
better question: Where did you manage to find THAT at? Awesome man!
|
by luck and by 12 hours of phone research.
Benny |
Do you need any engine parts?
|
the only real need is for a flat oil pan, I creating a external dry sump. so any think in that area, or may be a stainless header.
Thx Benny benoit@realride.com |
That car looks really familiar. Any idea what the racing history of it is? Seems like I've got an autographed photo or something or it...
|
The primary car ran IMSA from 91 to 94 couple of daytona 24. The sponsr was corona. My car was the back-up car and only did about 3 or 4 race still fresh!
Benny Any part that U have for a dry sump engine |
I'm looking for a front cover dry sump for 13B, for my IMSA GTU project, if I do not find I will buy the Mazdacomp one, so if any body has 1 let me know.
Thx benoit@pennyweb.com |
Benny,
I think I remember that car. I saw it race at Del Mar with it's sister cars during the IMSA days. I might actually have a pic or two. Was the car wearing 2nd or 1st gen bodywork? If I remember correctly, this car was not a factory race car. -Bern |
you are on the money this is the 2sd car that ran at delmar.
I do not have any good photos and would love some. It was the back up car and only ran a few rcaes. It's pretty clean and unused car. benoit@realride.com |
Benny, good luck with the new car. Glad you finaly found something. Looks like a ton-o-fun. Where are you planning to race it? Did you know that the SCCA just allowed PPort 13b's in GT2?
|
Very cool!
What happened to the left rear corner? Missing parts? |
Unfortunately the SCCA will not accept this body in GT2. I check the track record at willow spring and the GTU is 6 second faster than the GT2 SCCA not bad !!
And yes the car was missing engine tranny and rear upright. Thx Ben |

In 1989 and 1990, The Corna Light Beer # 88 car was raced by Mike Henderson, from El Cajon, Ca. In 1991 The Beach Boys Racing / Corna Lite # 88 car was raced by Bob Franham, from Venice, Ca. --on it's sister car, the #78 then #72 car: In 1989 and 1990, The Corna Extra Beer # 78 car was raced by John Daley, from San Diego, Ca. In 1991 The Beach Boys Racing / Corna Extra Beer # 72 car was raced by Gary Blehl, from Venice, Ca. I hope this information helps some. btw, and unfortunately, these privateers were overwhlemed by the Mazda (Rotary) MX-6, Nissan 240, and Dodge Dayotna, GTU factory efforts. -Bern |
I bought the car from Bob Franham here in Los Angeles.
great info thx ben |
If you ever want to have a look at the car I'm in N.Glendale near L.A
Benny |
