Who Tracks in the winter?

Just curious as to who tracks in the winter.

christaylor 12-05-04 11:02 PM

Do you mean on ice, or general "tracking" in the winter? In Texas, winter means we carry the rain tires with us and bring a jacket. :p: :D

General Tracking, I live in the north so right now all of that has stopped here. Just wa not sure how much of that still goes on in the south ove the winter...

look at www. trackschedule.com
pretty much every track has something going on all year long.

I'm going to Laguna Seca 12/15.

Winter?

(Okay it was 35 degrees at the 25 hours @ Thunderhill) We have events through December (See Todd's post above) and my first event next year will be 1/15.

OK - it may have been REALLY cold for the 25 hour (I just got home from it) but it didn't rain a drop! I'll take clear and cold in December over night racing in the rain any time!

Rick

(PS - Did you catch that blood red sunrise! WOW!)

NasaPro7 12-07-04 10:34 PM

I missed the sunrise, I had to get back to San jose for work Sunday.
Were you driving or spectating?

Here I am, in all my glory at Laguna Seca, running with speedventures.

Had a great time, drove about 150 miles on the track.

Is camber free over there? Looks like 3* on the front end. ;)

Also looks like you need to borrow somebody's porta-power to get that rear in line with the front. :D

Sorry - took me a while to answer!

I was driving in the 25. Evil Genius Racing's ITA prepped 1st gen. Apart from shearing the roll pin on the distributor gear and having to be towed in in the middle of the night, the worst problem we had was replacing the fuel filter. I got in seven hours of driving, and my first taste of night racing. Kudos to NASA, and SCCA's crew that runs Thunderhill. It was a fantastic, and well run event on an unbelievably challenging track. I'm counting the days until next year!

NasaPro7 12-18-04 06:02 PM

Chris,
Camber is free running spec GC camber plates; my car is near 3 degrees as well.

Todd,
How do you like the car? Ready for the season?

Bos,
I hope to join you next year, the plan is starting to come together... I'm going taxi-cab hunting in E2.

Back to the original part of this thread; Miata.net is holding a track day new years day at Infineon (~$200 - 6 20 minute sessions), and SCCA is opening up T`hill Jan 2nd for *free* to SCCA members.

I might hit one of those.... the car is at 7's only right now.... I'm praying they don't blow it up on the dyno :)
