Where to get springs?
 

Where can I get linear rate springs that will fit (work perfectly) the stock shocks of a 93 RX-7 R1 with minimal drop in height.

I'm stumped, it seems like the places that I've asked dont have any 8 Kg (432) and 6 Kg (378) linear rate springs that will fit the stock R1 shocks. Tein wants me to use their progressive rate shocks and claim that they cant guarantee the fit on their other product lines. Truechoice Racing Services is willing to make KONI double or triple adjustable shocks but cannot supply me these springs :scratch:

Do you guys know where to get these things?

nobody makes such a spring. howard coleman's thread in the suspension section has a lot of springs listed with the available rates. might want to take a look.

You might particularly want to search for info on the RSR race springs. I remember this morning that the rates might be similar to what you posted.

gracer7-rx7, thanks for the response. I have actually read Mr. Coleman's thread but it is geared specifically for coilovers (Teins) and the closest to what I want are the Eibach Pro-kits which he says are "linear". I might end-up getting these if my search comes-up empty.

I just got an email from a Japanese spring manufacturer and they are willing to custom make some springs but they need a minimum order of 20 sets. I am asking for a price quote since they didn't provide that to me on my initial inquiry.
Anybody interested in a set?

you might consider something (shocks/coilovers) that will allow ride height/weight adjustment so you can make the springs perform optimally, you have it apart enough just to R&R the springs......

I highly recommend the Eibach Pro-Kits. They lower the car about an inch but the ride and performance is excellent. You might want to replace the rubber spring perches too - if they're worn out the drop could be even less.

I really cant afford to lose any height because of my driveway issues. The car has to be driven at an angle to prevent scraping and damaging body parts in a purely stock condition.
Going with some coilover shock/springs is probably the most expedient solution but I dread the expense and complexity of this setup; plus, trying to tune the shocks to replicate/exceed the stock R1's capability is very intimidating for me :)
I like the R1's stock handling very much but I know that it can give a me a little more since the car is very undersprung.

I still have not found a source and might end up settling for the Eibach ProKit even if they would be a little short but if SCCAIT7 has a good one then it's problem solved :)
