Wheel/Tire Set up for autocross

Hey all. I just picked up my first lightly modified FD and am planning to get some wheels and tires for autocross. My question is should I get a square set up or staggered? My initial thought is that I have some 18x9.5 +25 wheels from my previous car but the offset is too low for the front to work so I could just get some new fronts. Looks like an 18x9.5 +50 would be about right to get it tucked back in a bit. Any thoughts/advice/tips? Thanks!

Whether you get staggered or square wheels really depends on what your handling preference is and how much power you are trying to put down.

I personally didn't like the understeer the stock FD has so I went about eliminating it putting in softer than stock front sway bar, Ohlins coilovers with higher rear spring rate relative to front (when motion ratio is accounted for), took out the toe control bushings for poly and putting a square 18x11 +45 295/30-18 wheel/tire combo (requires rolling fender lips and max front camber).

Handles like a big Miata.

If you want to pull your rear fenders or run over fenders and have a lot of power you can run a wider (and taller) rear wheel/tire than 295. If you want to trim some headlight sheetmetal up front as well as pull the front fenders or run over fenders you can run a wider (and taller) front wheel/tire.

Classes for the FD are "Street" which you are probably out of if you have mods, "A Street Prepared" which allows rolling/pulling fenders and add on flares, "Super Street Modified" which allows rolling/pulling fenders, add on flares or replacement wide fenders and "X Prepared" which allows same body mods as SSM.

SSM and XP FDs typically have 315 Hoosiers up front and 335 Hoosiers in the rear.
