Wheel sizing for Auto-x?
 

For stock class rules, I'm not too sure about wheel sizing. I know you have to run what the stock wheel size was before like 14 inch base model, 15 inch for GXL and other models, 16 inch for GTU/TII models.

Its illegal to go with bigger wheel sizes for stock class but I was wondering if smaller wheels were allowed?

I have a TII but I want to get a set of vert 15" BBS rims. Thanks.

Just get a set of S5 TurboII wheels. I've got a set with brand new Azenis's on them. ;)

But the vert rims are 11lbs... ;)

Nope. Can't do smaller wheels either. Wheels have to be the same diameter and same offset (+/- 0.25").

Am I missing something, what class are you running in? Different car classes have different rules on wheel sizing.

I ran my GSL-SE the first year with 15" (14" was stock) they looked great, but really needed to run 13" wheels. The smaller the overall diameter, the faster the car revs up, so you can get into your powerband.

Theoretically, you could run other '87 RX7 wheels, but you'd have to convert the rest of the car to be like the one you are taking the wheels from . If the convertible wheels were a unique size, you'd have to change your TII to a convertible. Not exactly a good option.;)

There should be plenty of wheels out there in a 16x7 that are pretty light. There are SSR Competitions in that size (I think) with a 42 offset. Don't remember the TII offset, but I thought it was 40. You can try www.wheelspecs.com to search on wheels size, bolt pattern, offset, etc.

**Edit...looks like those SSR's maybe the Japanese market Type-C's. Not sure of availability in the US. In any case, you should be able to find other alternatives.
