What Rear Wing do you use on your FD?

Quick and simple question, im looking to buy a rear wing for my track car and want to know what wing you guys are using. give me some feedback on it, goods and the bads and where to get it possibily. Heres the ones im lookin to get

APR GTC200-universal-59.5" wide-10" tall
APR GTC300-for rx7-67" wide-13"tall

theres a $600 difference between the 2 and I would like to see how many people use the GTC200 on there FD and, are noticing good gains out of it on the track. id like to stay under $700 and have the same look/function as those APR wings.

Iv'e had the Re-Amemiya GT300 wing for 6 years now and it's realy great. Gives realy good downforce, hafto recomend making some support braces under the trunck tho. It generates quite alot of downforce, driving trough the rain is quite fun seeing the flow of the water over the wing :)

I would also look at "real" wings from Crawford, G-Stream, etc...

Here is the one I have.

Does anyone know of a rear wing that attaches using the stock outer wing holes?

I can't quite bring myself to cruise around the street with an RE/A or APR wing on the car, but would sure like to run one on track. If there were a reasonable way to swap it with a stock wing for track time, that might be doable.

It seems that most (APR, RE/A) seem to attach out at the edge of the hatch, NEAR the stock holes, but none actually use the stock holes.

There does seem to be a need for a functional wing that looks a bit more "finished" like a GT3 wing... so it would be extreme for street use, but wouldn't look so much like an erector set. The would mean finished aero stanchions, and sculpted end plates, similar to pictured.

I'd be more likely to actually leave this on the car full time, as would many track junkies who aren't driving full time race cars.

yes i was trying to find one that is actually made for the rx7 that uses the existing mount location. i was looking at the APR GTC 300 but its a lil pricey. id really like a GT wing that uses stock mounts and is functional for the 600 price range

I used an RE-A wing when I had my fd. It's a great quality wing and it makes a lot of downforce.

I also don't like running gt wings on the street, so when I got home from the track I would swap it out with my stock wing. You can kinda see the holes with the stock wing in place but stuff like that doesn't bother me at all. Plus I rarely drove it on street

If I didn't know better, I'd say that the RE-A wing was made by APR... they look identical.

let's just say that the APR wing is a copy of the Re-A wing, as the Re-A wing was made years before APR caome out with theres ;)

Thanks for sharing, I love the action pics! I see you're not running a front splitter to balance it out...is it safe to assume you balanced out the bias with more spring and/or sway bar in the rear?

azn akira 01-12-11 02:52 AM

I was going to make a front splitter but I sold the car before I got around to it.

jantore 01-12-11 03:24 AM

trust me t he front splitter is needed. i had to put one on to make it more balanced. still it would understear alittle. So more downforce in the front was needed. but that's for the summer ;)

I run an APR GTC-300 wing on my track only car. For balance I have a JKL GTC nose with a large, custom Alumalite splitter. I am pleased with this combination.
