What kind of sealed battery box are you using?
Its time to buy one of the last pieces to my 7 so I can get it back on the road, I was looking at the moroso box for $109 any have any suggestions?
|
Sealed battery box? I just use the stock metal piece kit. Works great.
|
I have the moroso, you could make one from a small cooler for alot less though....

Battery Box
Buy a sealed battery and kill two birds with one stone.
|
I have the blue moroso one. Downside? Doesn't exactly fit into the rear bins, it sticks up too high. Other downside? The suck-ass Southco swell latches that are supposed to hold the lid shut don't work very well.
|
Damn, thanks guys. I never even thought about a cooler lol Thats really lame that for $109 it barely does its job.

Why not this one made by Taylor? Can be had for as low as $75-$80 in some places. |

true, and if i'm not mistaken.. it has to be in the rear most part (ie. spare tire area on FB's), not the bins.

is it possible to get some thick aluminum sheeting, Cut and bend the peaices, rivet them together to form a box and a lid? or what that not pass?
|
What options are there from something NOT made out of metal?

One of the thoughts that ran through my head as well. I didnt want a metal box because of the increased vibration transmission and heat issues. I decided to go with the Summit racing box which is approx $50? and comes with everything. It passes tech at local events here. Also using an Optima "drycell" battery. Its a little big for the Optima but I use dense foam padding material to keep it from moving. Works perfect.[/ |
cool, I am going to switch to an odessey pc680 battery, and I may try the cooler approach to a battery box. It is sealed, insulated, and about 15.00. I just don't know if any sanctioning bodies will have a problem with it. If they do, I can stick with my Moroso, already installed.
|
Any idea on who makes a battery case that isn't fuckin huge? I got the summit one and no way It'll fit in the bin. I want ANY box that will fit in my rear bin....as long as it's under $50.
-And I'm not too fixated on passing visual since all I really do is auto cross from time to time. Oh and I already have a sealed battery. |
What about a six pack cooler with the bottom inner liner ut out? That is what I am going to use, 7.00 at Walmart.
|
hmmm....and the autocross techs (usually pretty easy goin) won't say anything? I have the summit kit still so I can use the bolt down thing and stuff.
|
Im not sure if you guys who are trying to fit the box in the bins are aware that you can pull out the entire bin and put the battery box actually on the tub of the car, just unscrew all the screws under the lid of the box and pull the sucker out. If you want you can cut the carpeted base out of the bin and keep the lid.
I just know that where I hid my fire extingusher and amp. |
I dunno if it will fit either way...This box is HUGE. I will go test fit it now though...gotta go outside and pull a few things off the car ne ways ;[
