What happened to my injector?

I pulled my motor to send it out for rebuild and noticed an injector clip looked to be melted from a possible short? Attached is the injector and clip. I'm going to send the injectors out again for cleaning and replace the clip but am trying to figure out why that would happen. The motor in the car now only lasted 2 hours (no I didn't build it) so this just happened. When trying to diagnose what was wrong with the motor someone else was using a test light and probing the injector wires to make sure the injectors had power. I am thinking that might have been related? Any ideas, would like to make sure I address whatever caused this to happen.

possible loose connector pins would cause that

Failed/shorted injector coil. It happens more often then you'd like to think.
Replace the injector with a new one. |

But, if this is a somewhat common occurrence would it help any to buy brand new RC Engineering injectors instead of having 25 year old injectors cleaned? |
I would have to say yeah... New > 25 year old when it comes to electrical bits...

i've seen one injector that was bad, we ran a 25 with too much duty cycle, and it fried em.

Your $150 injector is now $3,000! RC injectors are also great pieces and are worth every penny! |

With fuel related deaths of engines very rampant, why would you risk a $3000 rebuild on a set of 25yr old injectors? Rebuilt or not... I've probed and prodded my injector wires with both stock and aftermarket computers. I've inadvertantly crossed wires and grounded injectors and the only time I've seen this is when the injector coil was internally shorted, not externally. |
