What events for roadracing an FC/FD?

I was wondering what events you guys compete in for road racing? Any recommended for beginner who just got a SCCA license?

SCCA's Iimproved Touring category is usually pretty good. good competition. (especially now that they put a 27mm restrictor on the BMW's :rlaugh: ) If you are looking for specific events in Hawaii though, I can't help much there. If you want generalized race type info, pm me..

NASA just came out with a new class called "Performance Touring". It's basicly a run what you brung series with about 8 different classes. Read more about it here:

Turbo models are restricted in SCCA to the Super Production class here in the SCCA southeast Division (SEDIV). Other divisions have classes called ITE , where the E stands for pretty much everything. All cars must meet all safety rules of their class; the SCCA is a big stickler about their safety record. See the divisional rules for your scca division. These classes are for regional racing only; not for the top National amateur club racing level. I do not think any turbo Mazdas are eligible for any SCCA National racing classes. Get hold of an SCCA rule book and see which class your car might be eligible in, and make sure you can afford to buy all the safety equipment required for that class before starting to build your car for racing. There is nothing more frustrating than showing up for an event and being turned down because your safety equipement is inadequate and illegal.

There are many, many classes that non-turbo Mazdas can SCCA road race in.

Contact your local scca region members and ask them
