What do I need to do to race fd in SCCA solo?

Hey, I want to get two SCCA events in this summer so I can order stuff form MazdaSpeed. What, if anything do I need to do to my car to prepare it? I have no idea where to even start. I am not even going to try to drive fast. I just want to get the two in so I can get the discount on parts. Any help?

If your car were stock, you would race in Super Stock class. Technically, your downpipe will bump you into the "A" street prepared class. If you don't care about being competitive, it shouldn't matter. When you register, ask the people at check in about which class to run. If you are a novice, it may be that no one will care if you race in the stock class.

To prepare for the autocross, you don't need to do much. First, remove all your loose stuff from the car. You can't have stuff flying around in the car while you are racing. Make sure your battery is secured tightly. They won't let you race if it is loose. Put some air in your tires. You may want to start with 38psi in the front, and 36 in the rear. You don't want to race with low tire pressure. Of course, check all your fluids. I like to arrive at the race with about 1/4 tank of gas, but that isn't crucial.

As long as your car is in good safe operating condition, you don't need much else for the race.

Once you try it, it's not likely that you will only go twice. It's a lot of fun.

The Mazda Motorsports program is nice. They won't sell you interior pieces, but you can buy most everything else at dealer cost. They are also very knowlegeable about our cars, and a good source of information.

Good luck at the race, Adam

I used to be "AA" grass, "B" sand.

Thanks adam c. I just read it. They have a few events at a local race track. I think I will do those. I am not too excited about racing around a parking lot full of cones. Thanks for the info. What would I race against in the prepared class?
