What class am I in (lightly modded FD)?

I'm really sorry if this question gets asked all the time. I did a quick search, but it gets real messy real quick.

Mods in sig. What class should I be in for SoloII? Some at the track say BP, some say SM2. Are either of these correct? I've tried to read the rule book, but it's just so confusing. If someone knows the answer, can they explain where in the book I should have found it.

Thanks alot

The 17" wheels will put you in street mod.
Otherwise, you'd be in ASP or AP.

SM due to the Profec-B....wheels are ok for ASP.

LAracer 10-28-03 08:44 AM

SM or SM2? And where are you guys reading this?

Thanks by the way.

DamonB 10-28-03 09:12 AM

SM2 because you are a two seat car. Any wheel is legal in ASP, but the boost controller is not. All your mods are ASP legal except the boost controller, so you bump into SM2.

If you're a stickler for the rules, then SM2 is only class you can compete in. You cannot compete in BP with a boost controller (and not that you'd want to anyways). But, IMO, if you're not taking home hardware from regional and/or national competition ... set the Profec B to stock boost and run ASP. No one is going to bitch unless you start beating everyone handily.

Thanks guys.

The profec is actually set lower than stock (I'm on stock ecu), but that didn't seem to change anyones minds about me being illiegal for street-prepared.

At least I have a pretty good consensus that I'm in SM2. Thanks again.

The 17" wheels are legal in ASP.

Yeah, I got a lot of crap for having my Profec B at stock levels in SS class. They argue that the boost control will bring on higher boost levels faster (I have to agree) even at stock levels. I will be running SM2 next year with stock boost levels until I can afford an ECU. Maybe I could squeak by at ASP, but the RTP index for 2004 is .848 for ASP and .849 at SM2, so what's the big difference?

Would it be the same for a TII with a few mods including a full exhaust, reworked ECU and boost controller?

What other types of cars do you see running in SM2?

In SM2 in my region, I mostly see turbo Miata's and super Z06's in SM2.

I don't know much about the TII and its classes.

When I go to South Bend Region there is an 80's 911 race car that just kills in SM2. I have the PFS purple and I set it at stock boost and run ASP. No one has ever said anything. My other mods are similar to yours.

Spank 12-18-03 09:11 PM

SM2

Would love to have another 7 in our class. Especially one running stock boost levels.

The more 7's we have the more fun it is racing against each other.

Hope to see ya racing this year.
