Went to drag strip !

Well i did OK, just need to get better launches
This was my second time ever going to race down a track
I have a few disadvantages also
I was running 8lbs on primary turbo and 14-15 on secondary
I had a passenger with me
i also kept my 19" crome wheels with street tires

I bogged out first time, ran a 15 something
than i ran another 15 someting
i finally got a good launch and ran 14 flat
than i ran a 14.02 at 109 mph

I'm gonna try to fix the boost problem on the primary, not have a passenger, and put the stock rims on next time, and hopefully run stock 1/4 mile times.
I can't believe i made my car slower than what they run stock.

All i have is
Blitz sus intake
down/mid/pipe
greddy PE exhaust
manual boost controller
HKS PFC FCON

i also have 9.5lb flywheel
and ACT clutch

Guy here in the UK ran a 13.6 on stock FD, just a induction kit nothing else twin turbo setup.

I'm hoping to run high 11's once work completed, i guess having a passenger deffo doesn't help!!!

What were your '60 times and what sort of PSI did you run in the rear tires?

Provided your clutch/drivetrain can handle it best of what I can read (as I don't drag my car) you're best off launching around 5500 running 12-20psi in your tires (depending on the tires).

To see how "fast" your car is versus stock, see if you can find stock 1/8th mile time and then take [stock 1/4th] - [stock 1/8th] = [stock speed], then do the same with yours to get the [modified speed] as by the 1/8th mile the tire issue and launching skill of the quarter should be somewhat negated.

With your trap speed the car is "street faster" and probably shows it on the modified speed results. Going off 2950lb vehicle weight your ET gives 212hp and your trap speed gives 298hp. If you are making ideal launches and runs those numbers should be nearly the same (a 109 trap should give you around a 12.5 ET).

I don't recall my 60' times, as i knew they were pretty bad. The drag strip down here has 2 friday nights a month opens it up for street racing. They use a normal 3 light traffic light but bigger. And they post all the times on the billboard at the end of the track, but you don't get a print out. You pay 10 bucks and you can race as many times you want. I had friends watching and giving me my times. Next time i'll write down my 60' I was running 25 lbs in my rear tires. I was launching at 4,000 rpms, i launched at 4,500 rpms and pitched to the right off whole shot. I 'll update this next week. Never tried launching at 5,500 rpms. Thanks for the reply

When running for 'time' you don't have to worry about the christmas tree just make sure it is green or some boards will just show you redlighted and not print your times (ymmv at your strip, check before you redlight). Just make sure you get off a good clean launch as it'll start the clock after you cross the start line (you probably line up with a 6" roll out or so) and end when you cross finish. Your reaction time (RT) is added to your elapsed time (ET) for your total finish if you were actually racing.
