Welding in rear strut tower brace

I have an fb that I'm turning in to a little peripheral ported monster and I'd like to know if it would be ok to weld in a rear strut tower brace? Any drawbacks? I was going to weld the bar just below where the shock bolts down on the strut tower but I'm wondering if it is necessary for the strut studs to actually be bolted to the bar?
I hope I have made myself clear...lol :D

It's ok to weld, but first if you are racing with a serie double check with them.
For example scce and grand-am does not allow you to weld, you have to use a removable bar only. I run in NASA and I have mine welded.
Thx
Ben

In an FB, theres no stress there. Those are shock absorber mounts, not a strut top. Your just adding weight.

So there would be no benefit huh? A bar would not help keep the body from flexing? Besides a front strut tower bar would there be any other areas a support would come in handy? Thanks for all the help fellas!

No not really. A good rear rollbar would help alot. Have the rear arms extend down to where the rear spring perches are. That will help control flexing in an up and down motion. And is the front strut tower bar you have fully triangulated? It should be.

If you wanna really go bananas, seam weld all the suspension connectors and any other highly stressed areas, lighter than a rollcage and will stiffen the car.
