We pulled ~400lbs from an 87 TII.

51R battery, 10lbs lighter
300zx wheels, 20lbs lighter total
pulled heater, stereo etc under dash 43lb saved
rear wiper, jack, spare ~30lbs
no power steering 15lbs

The list goes on. We wanted it to "look" like a street car, so we kept the carpet, door panels, etc. Weight at the track was 2450lbs. Not too bad for a TII.

PS. The entire sunroof assembly was 33lbs including the sunroof panel itself. Look for about 30 lbs savings by not having a sunroof model, probably ~25-28lb savings by converting to non-sunroof. We repaired the sunroof and reinstalled it to keep the "stock" look.

Acid dipping a shell is a bad thing for the street and most race cars. The acid will eat the surface coating from places you WILL NOT be able to paint. The rust will start immediately and you will not know until it is to late, rotting from the inside out. Seen it before. A better alternative would be to have the stripped shell sand blasted.
