Weber 48 grinding

used a new 48 IDA out of the box but it had a "grinding" as you opened the throttle, well the grinding went away, but the accelerator pump stopped working. I am not super familar with the 48 IDA where should I go from here??
thanks

The "new out of the box" part has me confused. The Weber IDA has been out of production for a long time. Is it a geuine Weber IDA or is it an IDF or some kind of Weber copy like a Berg?

Is the rest of the carb functioning properly?

Is everything in your fuel system perfectly clean?

yep they still make the 48 IDA

bought it new from webercarbsdirect.com, had a rough throttle movement, but it worked but was difficult to drive due to the "grinding" then all of a sudden it gets smooth, shut it down and wont start, pull the body off the car, no accelerator pump shot.

Are you sure you have good fuel pressure and a full float bowl?

The acc. pump is under a cover low on the side of the carb, between the 2 barrels.

Inspect the linkage that works the accelerator pump. As you turn the throttle, it should push on the lever, that pushes into the side of the cover. Make sure all that works smooth.

Then pull the 4 screws that hold the cover on, and carefully take everything apart. Look for holes in the diaphragms.
