Click here to see the RX7s running... well if you are watching while they are actually turning laps.

Dave (Mazdatrix) shows a bit down today.. but he has been in the top 2-5 during the week.

MOST of the cars are RX7s..

Actually the runoffs started Monday with practice. Tues,, Wed., and Thurs. qualifying. I've been watching (so to speak) it on the internet all week.

I hope to be there next year. How bout it Spin, looks like your going to go EP as well. Engine finished yet?

I was there yesterday and today. 1st gens are mostly in EP, 2nd gens in EP, GT3, and GT2, 3rd gens were mostly in GT3. Great racing!

What happened to Dave Lemon? I was really hoping that he might be able to keep a miata from winning again this year. Bummer.

I was watching the race on the leaderboard, Dave was running 2nd than in lap 18-19 he had either a crash or mechanical failure. This happend at the same time as Jessie Prather also had some incident. Jessie I know went to the hospital for neck x-rays. Reports this morning are he's fine. I just don't have any details. Anyway...something happend at the end of the race and several front runners were'nt running at the end of the race.

31rx7, the 3rd Gens running in GT3 are not really 3rd gens. The only requirement is that they have rear taillight assembly's and roof sheet metal from the 3rd gen. They are $40k++++ tube frame, carbon body panel race cars. Tom Thrash is an exception as he runs his EP car (1st gen tub) in GT3, and does real well. For those that have not heard the GT3 rotary based cars run the sound is amazing.

Dave Lemon crashed. Quote from scca web site:

"Rivera was at the tail end of a three-car battle for second, when Dave Lemon, of Signal Hill, Calif., and Thrash came together and spun on lap 14 of 20, allowing him to move up in his Mazda RX-7. Schmitt started eighth, but stayed out of trouble to finish third in his Honda Prelude."

Thrash finished in the top 10. The guy is an animal. The 1st gen has just about been written off in EP but Tom has proven it can still run in the front. Good job Tom.

now off to work on my race car......:)

All the porting is done :)
Just need to finish up some stuff on the oil system/passages
Get my damn clutch (Button Quartermaster 4.5 or 5.5)
Balance the lot
Finish the rest of the car... (Cage is drawn up and waiting time at a friends shop)

It is the nickel and dime stuff from there. :(
I have a F500 ride to re-fresh my license :D So that should be depressing when I get back into the 7 :(
Just time and money now.. (If the DAMN Hurricanes would let me work on the cars!)

Yes, I am aware - just trying to keep the thread simple without attempting to explain the complexities of SCCA classing!

By the way, Ron Tabourine's GT2 Miata is rotary powered, at least it was last year. Can't recall if it was a 12a or 13b.
