Banzai Racing Polyurethane Engine Mounts
Good stuff, they offer great support if you run into an issue. http://gallery.mac.com/kwerks/100079/IMG_0030_3/web.jpg |
More random upgrades such as
- new transmission bearing, oil seal and synth oil - Swaybar brackets - Tie Rods - Oil Pan - Old exhaust off (in pic), new one is being made...I'll post more pics of it once its done - Cleaned tons of parts and replaced all the rubber seals (total PIA) http://gallery.mac.com/kwerks/100079/IMG_0031/web.jpg |
Last but not least...drum roll...

pretty hot stuff.
why didn't you get widefoot swaybar mounts? i have a group buy set up for them now and they are the lowest prices he has ever offered his mounts for. $220 but ends 12/31. those stock mounts will bend with sticky tires and that swaybar. i got an earls oil cooler too :) will you autocross next season? giants stadium. I need some competition :) |

I need some competition :) Earls are good, they keep everything cooled but the real test will be end of spring. Update on the oil coolers install...I tried to install the oil coolers with factory oil lines and they are leaking so I will have to upgrade to braided oil lines. I will not autocross but I will be on track :) I used to autocross years ago with Mike and the BMW crew but track is where its at! :bigthumb: Did you get my PM? |
cool. i got your PM and sent you an email to your mac.com address. did you get it? i sent 2. -scott

I think the tripoint swaybar's additional braces make up for the factory mounts issue. (I picked up the factory mounts for $30 new couldn't just let them go to waste.) I'm thinking about picking up the gas pedal extension, looks useful. :icon_tup:
Not to push my stuff (right...), but while I respect the Tripoint guys a lot, I don't think their braces are a complete fix for the flexing OEM mount design. Their braces allow use of their style of Bronze Bushing mount, but don't do as much to stop the side-to-side motion that leads to metal fatigue and cracking of the stock swaybar mounts. The Widefoot swaybar mounts are a complete solution to the cracking mount issue, and can even prevent damage to the car's frame rails due to excessive flexing. With its much stiffer design than stock, and built-in brace, it stops the flex/metal fatigue that OEM mounts suffer from, and the shorter height raises the swaybar away from the road to lessen the risk of road debris damage (although this benefit is reduced when using 3pc. bars, due to clearance issue). However, even with the current GB pricing, $30 is a lot cheaper! ;-) Send me a PM if you want more info on the Pedal Adapters. Thanks, David Breslau Widefoot Racing Co. |
Man you've got some awesome upgrades going into the car. The oil cooler and sway look great.

Update on oil coolers:
They earl's fittings are leaking! I've tightened them more and that did reduce the leaking but its still there. I'll take them apart and redo it with new oil lines. =( more $$$ |
looking at the pic of the fittings with the stock lines, they don't look to promising. if you overtighten, they will actually leak more and it voids the warrenty of the oil coolers. good luck with everything man. i want all those parts!
|
You really need the widefoot mount if you are going to run sticky tires and that sway bar. I've broke the Tripoint reinforcements multiple times. They will snap where the bronze bushing bolts up. I 've reinforced them a couple of times but they just find a new place to break.

Are you running widefood mount? If so, is the tripoint reinforcement still cracking? Or were you just saying without a widefoot set it will crack?

Setup was exactly what you have now, failure waiting to happen. Last time it broke I lost a mount too. That is when I ordered the widefoot with the spacer and bronze bushing setup.
Dan Hi Dan, kwerks, diyman25, Dan, that's the first I've heard of Tri-Points brace/bushing mount cracking, do you have any pics you could post or email to me? kwerks, as I've posted elsewhere, my analysis of the TP bracket is that it's more of a extended mount for their style of bronze bushings, rather than a true "anti failure" brace for the OEM mounts. What Dan's got is the Widefoot mount, a spacer (needed due to 3pc swaybar arm design), and my version of the bronze bushing mount, which uses a block of aluminum to hold the bushing sleeve directly to the Widefoot mount. diyman25's got the same thing, except for using the cast version of the Widefoot mount, not the billet which is all I sell now. Nothing wrong with the cast mount, I just decided to stay with one style going forward. David Breslau Widefoot Racing Co. |
Here are some pictures of the break in the TriPoint reinforcement. Both sides have broken at least once now; this was the second time for this side. The first time it broke right at the hole the bronze bushing bolts through, if you look at the overall shot, you can see where I welded washers to each side to reinforce the hole. This time it broke just past the welded area.. Notice the small crack close to the stock weld also. Last picture is where it ripped off the end of my stock swaybar mount.

David,
what exactly do I need? 1 set of your mounts 1 set of spaces 1 set of your bushings ??? Hi Kwerks, You forgot line number five: Profit! (sorry, slashdot joke. And in theory, *I'm* supposed to profit...) Yes, I just need to confirm your setup (TP bar), and find out if you're using a stock lower radiator support arrangement. Once that's settled, the mounts are $245, the spacers $30, and the bushings are $145. When the full kit is bought, I cover shipping within the US. You can Paypal me, or if you prefer you can mail a check, PM me for the address. And thanks for the (presumed) order! LOL thx David.:icon_tup:
I'll get them after I get finished with my motor. I can't imagine having that stuff fail on me when I'm 700 miles away from home in West VIR...:wallbash: ... |
