Trying to choose a transmission

I've come to the point in my build where i know one day on the track is going to break my stock tranny. Im looking for a tranny that can hold 600 hp but is also somewhat practical on the street. The car is built for Time Attack and Road racing but i am still going to take it out on weekends.. I considered the Jerico 5 speed RR tranny but i've heard the wear out fast with street use. I also considered the R154. Any recommendations or advice?

I have a jerico in my racecar. You do not want to run a jerico on the street. It has no syncros and runs dog rings which means they slam together and wear quick. You will have crap in your oil after 1hour of driving . Also the straight cut gears are very loud. The tranny is very wide and will require massive cutting of the tranny tunnel leaving little room on the passenger side.

tremek t56,camaro 6 speed, or supra 5 or 6 speed would work. All will need some fabrication.

I have raced a 20b turbo in sports sedan racing in Australia . had similar problem , Every 3rd meeting I would brake 3rd gear in a series 6 gearbox. Ended up fitting a Toyota 1999 supra twin turbo 5speed box [the same as fitted to lexus v8 ] they are a very strong box and not too difficult to adapt to a rotary . Raced car for 3 years with this gearbox then fitted it in to my sons race car for further 5 and is still working fine .

We'll be using a BMW ZF S5D box in our track RX-3. it is 5 speed stock wise but we will be running 6 speed gearset with dog engagement from Samsonas. cost around 4k5 euros and is said to be quite strout. the box is in the car but we didnt drive it yet.

You may want to look into PPG. They have dog engagement gear sets that are quite friendly on the street. Will be running this on my time attack car.

Pfitzner Performance Gearbox - Surpassing Limitations

We're looking at trying the TKO 600. The ratios are pretty good and it has stood up quite well to the V8 abuse many fellows have thrown at it.
I've run a g-force kitted T5 and blown it apart twice now. I've also killed two stock gearboxes before that by exploding third gear. The TKO has much bigger bearings than the T5 and Mazda box and they can be had easily from Summit or Jegs. I've just put the T5 G-force back together, so I'm going to give it one last try, but I have the GM TKO-600 with the race gearing and an adapter standing by if anything happens.
