Tripoint front sway bar users
 

I recently lost an argument with a railroad crossing and trashed my front sway bar mounts and bar bushings. I use the solid bronze bushings from Tripoint which are a standard industrial part if you know how to get them. As you all know standard industrial parts are cheap, but special application car parts are not ;)

You can get them at McMaster-Carr part #7930K18 (catalog page 1022) for less than $17 each. Please remember these will not bolt to any stock type mount as they require the Tripoint braces in order to install correctly.

Even Mazda Competition wants just over $50 a pair...

Thanks for the info DamonB. I've got a TP bar, but I use the urethane bushings and Widefoot swaybar mounts. The bushings that you linked to, however, look like a similar design to the stock bushings.

By chance did you compare the McMaster bushings to a stock set? If it's just the bolt spacing that's different, then maybe a little grinding of the mounting holes will let them work with stock mounts. Hmmm, if I can find an old stock bushing in the garage to measure...

The bushings I linked to in the pic have wider bolt spacing than the stock mount so they won't bolt on without the Tripoint braces, I don't think there is room to drill the holes closer to fit either as the difference is about 1". That does not leave enough room around the "hump" part for the bolt heads to sit when mounted. The McMaster Carr part is the same as what I was supplied with my solid bushed Tripoint; the urethane mounts are the only way to go as far as I know if you don't use Tripoint's braces.

I pulled out a stock bushing holder and measured it. Around 3" ctc for the bolt holes. McMaster-Carr says 4-9/16 for your bronze set, so you're right, it's not even close.

Hmmm, maybe if David made his Widefoot mounts longer....

damon did you cover your tp sway bar helm joint also?

as far as the sway bar mount...which does tp gives when you only buy the sway bar without the braces?

No, have not had problems with those.

The urethane mounts that fit the stock sway bar mounts.
