That's an awesome price on the KONI 2812s if it's for all four corners! When I priced them for my Corvette a few years ago I think they were $3300 and about to get a significant price bump since they were becoming the spec shock in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge... I landed a used set of double adjustable Penske 8100s that I didn't end up liking and finally went with non-adjustable Bilsteins and I've been super happy with them.
Please do let summarize what you find. I've got the MazdaComp ITS suspension from the late-90s on the car right now... single adjustable KONIs... we'll see... |
Yep, good deal on the 2812's for sure. Def. a top tier shop. The only issue(and I wouldn't really call it an issue) is that they tend to require rebuilds a little more frequently. I've heard it is because they were originally designed for F1 and the shaft size is smaller. I really don't know though. You can learn to rebuild them yourself though and it's not that big of a deal. Alot of local motorcycle shops have shock dyno's you can use for a small fee once you rebuild them to verify everything is working as it should. If you learn how to rebuild them yourself, rebuilding them every year(replacing the soft seals and putting in fresh oil) would be cheap insurance anyways.
There are several FD guys running them. They tend to be the damper of choice for the FD AutoX guys. D Chadwick, E Strelnik, and C Thompson all use them. Look forward to hearing what direction you go. Also look forward to gkmccready finally having a string of GOOD luck and getting that FC race car out on track this year! :icon_tup: |
mmm. I'm also in the same boat. Running NASA TTD stock class for
a TII. And really need something that isn't adjustable. To stay in stock class I really need to go with #3 1) Non-BTM shocks/struts/dampers with an external reservoir or more than two ranges of adjustment—must still take points for springs below +10 (example: compression (bump) and both high & low rebound adjustments). 2) Non-BTM shocks/struts/dampers with a “Piggy Back” external reservoir (fixed reservoir without a connecting hose) OR with shaft diameter 40mm or greater—must still take additional points for the springs below +7 3) Non-BTM or modified/re-valved shocks/struts/dampers +3 (all others)(springs not included) |

I read that as you can have double adjustable dampers as long as they don't have remote reservoirs or 40+ mm pistons...

Old thread I know.
Has anybody used the Stance pro comp 2? I'm giving them some serious thought. For around $2500 does anything comparable exist? |
