Tires/Pressures for RR
 

Whcih lasts longer (an avg) and youd consider the best bang for the buck, Toyo R888 or Toyo RA1? Recomended cold tire pressures for a stock 84 FB on RA1s?

Are they full tread or shaved? I was working through the same issue this past weekend. RA1s apparently like seeing upper 30's low 40's when hot (according to Toyo). For my FC this weekend, this meant starting around 34F/32R cold (first thing in the morning, about 60 degrees ambient). This was on 225/45r15s shaved to somewhere between 6/32 and 4/32.

Note the R888s have a different (lower) pressure "sweet spot". Check out the Toyo web site for more info.

I personally run the R888 on my FB also with 225/45/15, and I run then closer to 45psi hot. We have had a bit of a discussion on it here:

43-45 hot for the RA1's. your cold pressure is probably going to be around 30-32

the R888's last longer.

by tire temps the R888's also like to run about 33-34 hot, since our tracks are either mostly rights or lefts, by tire temps all four corners vary a bit

I ran RA1s on my FC at 32/30psi for autocross and street driving. On my Corvette where I normally run tires are 28/26 or 30/28 my R888s like 36/34 cold and somewhere close to 45psi hot to get the best grip -- that's track days and street driving. From everything I can tell the R888s like a higher pressure than the RA1s.

interesting, the toyo USA site is different....

going backwards, we did find the r888 doesnt need quite as much camber, which is good for the mc strut cars. it doesn't like high slip angles either, which is what we were thinking people don't like. if you let the car slide around, the tires go off

the tire pressure thing is interesting, our car is 2350lbs and a spec e30 is 2750lbs, so even on toyo's chart, they'd run more pressure. this explains why our temps are good, our wear is good, and we run the low pressure, vs everyone else saying you need to run 50psi...
