TII Tranny with 12a Flywheel and clutch?

well i have a fancy 2 disc clutch and super lightened flywheel for my 1983 tranny but i keep breaking things and am wondering if i can use my clutch/flywheel on a TII tranny?

I would guess not. Seeing that, your bell housing would fit on S4/S5 N/As (I have a 82(?) gearbox on my 90)...which require different clutches than TIIs.

Just an educated guess.

I have the bellhousing from a repu which supposedly will mount my 12a to a TII so thats why i ask about clutches, even if the bellhousing doesn't fit i will customize it to fit, thanks, mike

The NA trannies and turbo trannies use different size splines on the input shaft... so unless there's some weird workaround that I'm not aware of... no.

Mazdatrix sells the "special" clutch disc 225mm with the turbo splines. I don't think they give the 215mm clutch the same "special" treatment.

Yeah, but if he has a twin plate clutch and a really lightweight flywheel to go with it, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the stock style clutches didn't bolt up. Plus, a puck clutch is a definite downgrade.

That said, it occurs to me that there's probably different hub thingies (yeah, technical terms here...) for the clutch that can be swapped in to accept the TII spline.

To retain the pressure plate, intermediate plates, and the flywheel he would probably have to get all new clutches that are built around the turbo input shaft. Replacing just the hub of the clutch would most likely prove difficult in the gargrage.

generally the answer is no.

differnt flywheel diameter and starter.

it may be more cost effective just to get a new flywheel and clutch to use with your TII tranny.

you must be making a ton of power or drive really rough to be braking your 12a transmissions. im putting 250whp out on a 12a tranny and alum flywheel on victoracers and havent managed to break or damage anything yet.

its a MFR PP 12a with 4.88's in a striped out 1st gen but it is soon to be in an rx3 with 5.67 gears
