Street/Track Tire(no autox)

All the threads I have seen are focused on which tire combo works best for autox driving. Im slowly getting into some time trial events with EMRA. My car is street driven (weekends and nice days) so less then 5k a year, and I will attend roughly 2-4 time trial events. I was looking at the azenis rt-615's, but Ive only see autox results, and nothing for track use. Tires will be a 255/40/17 all around on my FC

I did run a 225 Kumho MX tire for about 3k, but never really had the chance to really beat on them. They were great for street, but Im not sure how they would hold up compared to the falkens, and have the grip

If you want a tire to run on the street and track, you might consider shaving a set of street tires so that they won't chunk on the track. I've run Bridgestones S03's on the track for track day stuff with some sucess. Your best bet is to have a dedicated set of competition tires, but you probably already know that. Good luck and good racing.:)

Thanx for the info. I considering having a dedicated set of race wheels, but until I can afford an extra set of decent wheels for racing. I planned on using my Enkei FPf1's but then I have have to change tires every time I wanted to hit the track. I would shave the tires, but Im not sure how long they wont last. Im sure these are all things I shouldnt not be concerned considering road racing isnt a cheap hobby, but Im kinda working on a budget.

The Azenis rt-615 will be great for the track, tire wear isn't the greatest though, but just doing time trials you should be ok. If you can find Azenis rt-215s, those are good too, and a bit cheaper than the 615s.

But like it's already been said, it's best to get some track wheels. You'll save yourself some money down the road not having to replace tires as often.
