Stationary gears- hardend vs. non hardend
 

Is it possible to see the difference between hardend and regular stationary gears.? I will be using used gears and want to pick the best of the bunch.
What is the wear to look for on the gears themselves?..other than the obvious chipped teeth, pits etc.

No, it's almost impossible to tell them just by looking at them.

I got a set of hardened gears. Ill take a pic, you can compare them, pm me.

The series 6 / 20B gears have the multi window bearings as standard, and they are hardened.
