I have done this to one of my FC's and it does take a lot of hours as well as planning. You will need to strip a lot more of you car. I had to remove all sound deadening material inside the car as well as in the fender wells.
You also can't simply pick a spot and start welding. If you start at one point on the car and go around from there you will warp the chassis. You can only do a couple welds in one area before moving on to the next. Kinda like putting a tire on or lots of things for that matter. It will take you about 80's total but that includes the prep work and welding as well as painting after. I have some pics on my PC back in Japan but wont be back until next weekend. Tom |
I have thought about doing this on my current project. A couple things have me reconsidering. My main concern is about putting a warp in the chassis. The other was if I ever want to sell my car it would need to be sold as a GT car. Not many people want to buy a tub GT car, especially with all the rules problems they can't work out. It seems it would be easier to sell as a prod car.
