spoilers for the track

im thinking about taking on a project to add some downforce to my car FOR THE TRACK. im wondering what rear wings are out there.. the RE-is too tall. im looking for soemthing about 1/3rd to a half as high. i understand those wings are that high to be put into the wind but this car will still be driven on teh street too. Its just that now my rx-7 is the weekend fun car i can do stupid stuff like this to it. And yes i have searched but all i get is massive flamewar post. I figure someone out here uses there car on the track going all out so someone should know.. yes i do track at least once a month so save the flames. and to the helpful ones thanks in advance.

I don't think there are many/any other options for direct fit wings. Carl Byck uses a wing on his track car, do a search for his threads and you'll be able to see pictures of it. I beleive that it uses custom mounts, that's the best route to getting a wing where you want IMHO.

Go to race car section. Probably plenty of suggestions. If you got a diffuser under the car it would do the same thing.

DOH.. yeah i just remembered they had a race section.....

You'll probably get a lot more downforce on a wing than a diffuser, on a production based car anyway/especially. The airflow under the car is pretty turbulent due to the roughness of the underside, and most cars aren't nearly low enough to fully utilise a diffuser. To use one effectively you need to be pretty low, and a smooth underbody will help a lot.

Here's some good aero reading for you:

if u add metal where there is turbulence underneath can u get better gas mileage too

With the new PT rules, a stock spoiler is the same as a full on wing, so I switched to a spoiler setup.

Adding an ISCRacing front splitter to complete the package.

RE Diffuser or RE GT Wing for the win. The GT Wing is not to tall imho but to some it is. I also like the R-Magic and the Wangan style wings.

Did you make that yourself? Where do you get those turnbuckle-like brackets?

hmm interesting design im looking for a gt style . its gotta be 62-5 inches wide in order to look proper on the car and fit into the wind well. tiny will look retarded and wont be as effective the outside of the wing is whats making the most lift

IndyFC 06-29-06 12:26 PM

RE-A GT Wing for the win. Your choice of FRP, Carbon, or Kevlar. No other choice for the fc imho.

gxlbiscuit 06-29-06 12:48 PM

k.. it sits a bit tall where can i get one.. and i think myabe my 62-65 width was lil optimistic.. anyone here have an re wing.. how wide is it?

Bigretardhead 06-29-06 06:44 PM

chockets makes brackets to fit their GT wings on FC's.

they offer 3 different colors, 3 different sized wings, and 3 different heighth mounting brackets too.... I would reccomend the high brackets, on the 1650mm wing.... :)

those chockets wings look pretty good. Might have to give up my wangan style for one of those.
