Solo I/II FC build
I just got my hands on a GXL with a blown motor and a fried computer. I've been AutoX'ing quite a bit in my Protege5 (THSCC's STS guys better watch out in the next few monthes), but I wanted something a little faster and more versatile for Solo I and Solo II events. I'll be stripping the car completely down in the next few weeks to have a cage welded in and everything painted. I've been studying as much RX-7 info as I can find online, but I don't want to screw any part of this project up. If there is anyone in the central NC area who would love to waste a day or two and show me all the in's and out's first hand I would be very gratefull. I'll have a motor sitting around that you can show me how to tear down.
After I get the cage done I'll be concentrating on the suspension and then on the motor and drivetrain. I expect this project to take over a year to complete, but I refuse to cut corners on this. Any and all input would be very appreciated. (Soory for the quadruple post...the submit new thread page kept stalling and had to be reloaded...can a mod please remove the duplicates...thanks) |

If you don't screw up any part of the project, how will you spend extra money, curse a lot, have several months to mull it over, or end up with parts you bought but can't use?
Are you going to have ANY fun? Cory being a smartass, sorry. |

I did some seam welding and went pretty hardcore on the cage I built for my Turbo II road race car.

Get the Rule book and figure out what class you want to run in first. Talk to other people running in that class.
