Slicks vs.R Compound

Does anyone have any input as too how long and what the grip level is of a racing slick as apposed to r compound.
I have only run r-compound,hoosier,toyo,avon,kuhmo.
I am looking to get slicks for my lapping and possibly staying with them and moving up one class.

I am wondering if there is a speed difference between the two?

I assume there is after watching and timing Grand Am cars over a long run...1hr plus and the times did not change from the start of the run until the end. I know running r compounds at a track like the Glen in the summer I can see and feel a difference at the end of a 30 min run
Thanks for any info.
Jim

Slicks will give you a few 10ths more G's in the corners and better braking. You can pick your compounds for how hard you drive, how much your car weighs and track conditions. You will still need to take car of your tires for long sessions with the softer compounds. Depending on the track you can end up with different comound tires on each corner if you are looking for those last few hundredths of a second. For lapping just ask the tire manufacturer what they recommend.

A FEW 10TH?????????? Not quite my experience.

I've roadraced my rx7 since 97 and have run slicks since 2006. Won the vancouver indy sedan race in 2000, western canadian championship in 98, and set many records. As a driver also part the Canadian Players driver program in 1996. On most tracks you will knock off 4 seconds easy. They are sooo sticky you will have to redo the suspension as there will be a lot of roll with the extra grip. i run 1400 fronts and 1050 rear springs.

I've posted some race footage in car and out of my 705 hp 20b turbo FD rx7 on you tube.

Hey Wouter,

He said few 10ths of G-Force, not seconds... That would depend on which track the car is ran.
