Side Window replacement
 

Well the car is basically race these days, some street here or there to just run it. But I no longer need the side power windows, or the panels. Any suggestions, I was thinking no windows, but if I ever need to wash or keep outside, well forget it. Now I would ideally like to go with lexan side windows. Does anything have a info on making brackets so I would be able to attach them, also I heard alot of places like the windows open when you going to a road course? Just trying to get some ideas.

Windows are a no go for road racing. Scrap them all together, you don't need them. Washing the car is not a problem without windows, you don't have carpet or fabric seats, right? A few drops of water inside isn't going to hurt anything. Keep it in a garage or keep a waterproof car cover on it for storage. The only problem I've ever had is towing on an open trailer in a down pour, in that case it actually doesn't get too bad... just put a large trash bag over the seat and wipe it down when you get to somewhere dry. If you do Lexan, it'll be for storage/transport purposes only.

You can also cut lexan sheets to serve as temporary windows for transport and storage.

After you strip the window stuff keep the windows & use them to cover the openings for storage/transport. Most windows have a couple holes in them. Make alum bracket for each window, bolt the bracket to the window & slip the window into it's normal position from the top side of the door & allow the newly attached window brackets to rest on the vertical window opening. The mounting bolts will be below the window opening. This works well on a car without a door frame (top & rear) around the window. Presume it could work for a car with a full door window frame, just do it differently.

I have read of folks who, once they gut the door, just slide the window glass into the frame and secure it with a block of wood wedged between the bottom of the glass and the top of the door bar. If you've removed your door bar, I'm sure you can tack weld some sort of support bracket in its place.

Hmm, I think I'll add this to my list of winter car projects now. :)

What about for drag purposes? Im really building the car for time trial events, wasnt sure if the open windows would create alot of drag

Even in HPDE both front windows down. How are you getting out when the door won't open (against a wall, tire barrier, other car, dented) and the car is on fire? Crashes happen. You are going to need a way out, windows down.
