Side Draft Help Please

1 Attachment(s)
I will be needing much more help later with tuning. For now, does anyone know a source for the piece that attaches the OMP lever to the carb. i.e. the arm, see pic
I have the OMP link balenced on my intake manifold for now.

Jim at Racing Beat suggested making one so if anyone could show me a picture of theirs i would greatly apperciate it
Thanks
Dave

Somebody has to have a pic.

Should i be posting somewhere else?

Thanks
Dave

I looks like you could just make one out of a bent bar, and calibrate it based on the OMP calibration method in the manual.

I will move this thread to our racing forum to see if there are any more responses. FYI it usually takes longer to get technical responses in these advanced forums, as the questions are usually more complicated than "what is the best color for my car?" types of questions you see in the faster-moving forums. ;)

The one in the picture that evil aviator posted looks just like the one I ran when I used a side draft carb setup in the '90s. A piece of 1/8" or larger diameter gas welding rod can be bent as shown above. To make the end connections, carefully cross drill the rod at desired location using tiny 1/16" drill bit. Get some #6 flat washers, and use tiny cotter pins or even safety wire to go thru the cross drilled holes.

Test fit and bend the rod a few times to see where it needs to run, then mark where you need holes to secure the ends, (example a hole just above OMP arm, and a hole just below OMP arm.)

For example, at the lower rod end, the hardware Assembly sequence is:

Cotter pin + flat washer in your upper hole
slide assy thru omp armOMP arm
then flat washer under OMP arm
then bottommost Cotter pin

You can buy a universal linkage kit from any shop that sells weber. http://www.piercemanifolds.com/linkage.htm For the omp rod, I use a clothes hanger or welding rod.

Otherwise, just get a piece of aluminum rod @ homedepot like the picture below Estimate how it will turn and the angle. Drill a small pilot hole then trim to fit the throttle shaft (remember it is flat on 2 sides).
