shimming lsd
I have done some searching and cannot find any information on this topic. I've heard that shimming the stock clutch type lsd can be done for a greater lockup. Does anyone have any information on how to do this? If anyone can point me somewhere that has a write up on this or if this is an inherently bad idea I would appreciate it. I would just like to know more about it. Is this a way to extend the life of a worn lsd as well?

The shims are in the third member. I think what you're talking about is making your stack hieght taller when you rebuild the lsd. Mazda sells different thickness shims. When you have a taller stack the breakaway force will be greater and the rear end will be more like a locker. If this is for a race car then you probably want to do this. If you have a factory manual look up rebuilding the lsd.

I just rebuilt my clutch pack. I got advice from Improved Touring.com and was told to use an oversize disc every other disc. That is what I did. I love my LSD! Just took it out last week!
